YMCA 10k Training Team

Training for the Richmond 8k might be exactly what you need to get moving and doing it in a group setting with a crew of supportive coaches and teammates is sure to get you to the finish line. Spend 8 weeks in a program catered to runners and walkers of all abilities and you’ll quickly realize how fun (yes, FUN!) training can be. Want to participate in the Allianz Richmond Marathon, CarMax Richmond Half Marathon or Richmond 8k while also providing active living opportunities to Richmond, Virginia youth? Sign up for a charity bib through Sports Backers Youth Programs. Fundraisers agree to fundraise $750 for the Marathon, Half Marathon or 8k and receive a free registration into the race.

Sports Backers Youth Programs invests in the future of active living in our region through our youth programs such as Kids On The Move and Active Living Leadership ALL Stars. From the youngest kids getting an opportunity to be a part of a running or fitness club, reaping the socio-emotional benefits while moving more, to those on their way to adulthood and applying to college, Sports Backers is passionate about supporting Richmond region youth. We do this by providing the resources they need to be successful, whether that be a pair of running shoes for a child in need, covering the cost of bus transportation for a run club to attend one of our signature events, or providing a scholarship to a promising student-athlete. Your donation makes it possible for us to support the most important part of our community—our kids. They are the future and we know that by investing in them and instilling healthy habits now, it benefits us all.
