The Blazing Saddles Century, presented annually by the North Shore Cyclists, is a gateway event to the fall schedule of cycling events in New England. The Blazing Saddles Century offers four road routes, each featuring highlights of Boston's North Shore area. This year's event will also include an enhanced 50 mile mixed-terrain route on a variety of rail trails, fire roads, and single track. Bailouts are designated at 25, 29, 34, and 45 mile points.

Route choices ranging from 38 to 100 miles make the BSC suitable for a wide range of cycling abilities. The routes will be shared with registrants closer to the date of the event. SAG/mechanical support will be provided across the routes and at the rest stops.

Event Schedule for Saturday, August 15th:

  • 7 am - Registration opens

  • 7 to 8 am - 100, 80, and 65 mile and mixed-terrain rides start

  • 8 to 9 am - 36 and 52 mile rides start

  • 11 am to 3:30 pm - Picnic lunch

FEES:

  • $65 NSC members / $70 non-members, until June 30

  • $75 NSC members / $80 non-member, July 1 - August 11

  • $95 All, August 12-15

    Join us on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 for a fun-filled weekend of bike riding and comradery to support our veterans.

    Hosted by Run for the Troops and Soto Cycles, Andover, MA.

    and finish at Rec Park, 147 Abbot St., Andover, MA.

    This year, there are two options for you to choose from:

    1. Come on Saturday and participate in a short bike ride, then join us for a swim and activities in the afternoon. Camp out in your tent (no RV's) at the Rec Park recreation area and participate in one of the three rides on Sunday morning. Registration is $75 (plus Race Roster fees) and includes lunch, dinner and activities on Saturday, as well as pre-ride breakfast and post-ride lunch on Sunday.

    2. Alternatively, you can join us for the Sunday ride only. Registration is $50 (plus Race Roster fees). Check-in begins at 6:30AM; Opening Ceremony at 7:00AM; ride begins at 7:30AM.

    Please note: ALL PARTICIPANTS are expected to fundraise. Riders and others can make a tax deductible donation to Run for the Troops to support our veterans programs.

    The ride takes place on the streets of Essex County MA. There are three courses to best match your interest and capabilities. Each course will be marked by signs.

    • 12 miles - recreational riders. You want to participate but don't want to go all out. This is for you. Ride to Smolak Farms in North Andover and back to Rec Park.

    • 36 miles - This ride is to the American Legion Park in Georgetown and back.

    • 65 miles - This ride is to the Lazy J Ranch in Salisbury and back. You should be an experienced rider for this route.

    Oak & Iron will be on hand for post-ride refreshments!
