13.1 Miles Half Marathon Relay Run Trail

10:00 am (9:30 am early start). 9th Annual Union Half Marathon and Relay will start at the Visitor Center in Big Stone Gap, VA. The course will utilize the paved Greenbelt Trail in Big Stone and then unite with the Powell River Trail in Appalachia, VA. Participants will be able to go through the two old train tunnels that make up the Powell River Trail. All completing participants will receive a unique finisher’s medal and a race t-shirt. 2-4 Person Relay option.

    32nd Annual Run the Tunnel is a 3.8ish Mile Road/Trail footrace hosted by the State of Franklin Track Club and the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, held at the beautiful Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA

    Run the Tunnel is part of the State of Franklin Track Club's King & Queen and Trail Series competitions.

    Awards will be given to the male and female winners in the following categories: Overall, Masters, Grandmasters, and Senior Grandmasters. Awards will also be given (three deep) for both male and female in the following age groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & Above.

    Awards are not traditional trophies or medals but items base on the race "theme of the year." For example, the theme for 2025 was "Don't worry, you've got this 'in the bag' and overall and age-group winners received a handmade zippered shoe bag with the SFTC logo. The 2026 race theme will be announced after the first of the year.

    All participants will receive a race t-shirt.
