The Eden Prairie Optimist Club's 12th OK 5K walk/run is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Purgatory Creek Park, 13001 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. Major sponsors of the 5k include the Eden Prairie Optimist Club and the city of Eden Prairie. Sponsors also include Brandpoint, HealthSource of Eden Prairie. Proceeds go to the community programs of the Optimists, including the Valleyfair trip for local Elementary School Patrols, Essay and Oratorical contests, Central Middle School Youth Appreciation and more. The Eden Prairie Optimist Club is a civic organization with an emphasis on programs that benefit and recognize the youth of Eden Prairie.     Our Half Marathon Series Event is produced by Premier Event Management in conjunction with our host community partner of Bloomington, Minnesota. Our Kids One Mile Fun Run will start and finish from our main finish line structure making the Kids event something extra special on race morning. Children from ages 5 to 15 are encouraged to join us on race morning to begin a lifestyle change at our Kids One Mile Fun Run!

Today, the 5-mile follows the same traditional route around Shady Oak Lake before finishing on Main Street prior to the Hopkins Raspberry Festival parade. The Main Street Mile was introduced in 2010 and features a flat, fast course straight down Main Street with a shared finish for the 5-mile.
