A series of four progressively longer races. Now in its 48th year, this edition will include modifications to accommodate pandemic restrictions and guidelines.

You may register for any of the four individual events or for the full four-race Series. The first 125 Series registrants will receive custom Buildup socks, to be distributed prior to or at the first race.Commemorative long sleeve technical shirts available for purchase for Series or individual race entrants.

Please note that while we hope to be able to conduct all the races of the Series as in-person events, the ability to do so is based on permission from the state and towns. While we will make every effort to hold the races in person, including changing the location, the fluctuating nature of the COVID virus makes it possible that some of the races will need to be held as Virtual events. Please read our Refund Policy before registering.

FACILITIES: Buildings should be open at all races. Come dressed to run, bring warm clothing for afterwards. Mile & 5km splits marked (every km in 10K). Digital clock at finish. ChronoTrack B-Tag timing (gun times, net times where possible.).

POSTPONEMENTS: Postponed races will be held the following Sunday at the originally scheduled site and time. Postponement notice will be posted on this site and the Buildup Facebook page and Twitter feed by 7 a.m. race day (or earlier when possible), and via email to all entrants.

AWARDS: Long sleeve technical fleece 1/4 zips to the top Overall, Open (39 & under), Master (40-49), Grandmaster (50-59) Vet (60-69) and SuperVet (70 & over) male and female in each race who have not already won. The overall Series winners in these categories will receive custom engraved slate plaques after the Series conclusion. Grand Prix Series scoring will be based on the Purdy computer point tables, and weighted (best race multiplied by a factor of four, second best by three, third best by two, worst unweighted). Series standings will be posted at this site after 2 races. Jeff Falberg, Series Statistician.

This is the first annual Iger Fund 5K: Hosted by The Be Kind Project which is being held in an effort to promote awareness around the connection of mental health and homelessness in Connecticut.

Both The Iger Fund and Be Kind Project were born from a shared realization that compassionate mental healthcare is critically underfunded and too often treated as an afterthought. Mental health care is unfortunately not a high-profit industry, which results in the people who need it most being frequently underserved and discharged without the support necessary to truly continue healing. As IOL staff, we believe this must change in an effort to promote a full journey to wellness.

The race will take place on the Institute of Living Campus. Registration will begin at 8:30am and the official race will start at 9:30 am. The fun run for children 10 and below will take place at 9:00 am. *children 10 and younger are free to attend

Water and snacks will be provided to participants, as well as awards for top participants.

Be Kind t-shirts will be for sale during the race; proceeds also go directly to the Iger Fund.

Fast Track Timing will assist with professional timing and scoring of the 5k.

Full proceeds from this 5k will go directly to the Iger Fund to assist in helping patients.

Proudly Presented by SmartStart Pediatrics along with support from Fleet Feet Glastonbury, The Glastonbury River Runners offer this 9 week training program (no session May 24- Memorial Day Weekend) to encourage youth ages 4 to 13 to get up and move! Let us help your child reach the goal of completing a 5K (3.1 miles) and have a great time doing it! Through this program, we are here to offer your child support, motivation and fun along the way!

Practices will begin promptly at 4 p.m. on Saturdays at the Smith Middle School Track (216 Addison Rd, Glastonbury, CT 06033). Practices will last about 45 minutes. After a group warm-up (stretches and running games), kids will be encouraged to run at their own pace and run as many laps as they feel comfortable running.

This is a non-competitive program so each child can run as many laps as they feel comfortable with. Older kids have run up to two miles while younger ones may only run two laps and that is perfectly okay. We just want to see everyone out there having a good time. Our main goal with this program is to keep kids active, show them what they are capable of achieving, and have them see how fun running can be!

Every time your child completes a lap, they will collect a popsicle stick from one of the coaches. Once they are done running, they will turn in their sticks and write the number of miles/laps they ran on their personal card.(5 laps = 1 miles) After their card is filled out, they will take it to Coach Chaz or Coach Jill and receive a “toe”ken for each mile they ran and one gummy worm. After they pick up their rewards, you are free to go home.

Please remember to bring a drink for your child and we strongly encourage you to run with your child.

We will run in gentle-to-steady rain, but will cancel for thunderstorms and downpours. In the event of inclement weather, we will send out an email and provide updates via the Glastonbury River Runners and Run U! Facebook pages

For more information, contact us at grrpres@gmail.com or chaz1013@gmail.com.

Please note that we take every effort to assure a safe and protective environment for your children, but as with any physical activity running does come with risks of injury! Safety first please! Please bring your own water/cold drink!

    Package includes-

-Weekly Practice Every Saturday from Smith School at 4 p.m. (NO SESSION SATURDAY MAY 24- MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!)

    -Training at experience level

-"Toe" ken after each completed mile of training

-Gummy Worm Treat at the end of each session.

    -Running shirt

-Race entry to GRR Firecracker 5K on June 28 for both your child and one adult participant to guide your child on race day.
