3.1 Miles 5k Run Trail Walk Wheelchair

The 5K will start & finish across from Phil Welch Stadium/Bode Ice Arena, 2500 Southwest Parkway, St. Joseph MO 64503. The race will proceed through the SW Parkway over the trail bridge (Belt Highway) & return. Enjoy scenic spring-time views of the beautiful Fairview golf course and Parkway. Prepare to achieve your personal best on this 3.1 mile course. Chip timing provided by Show Me Running.

$35 registration fee on or before March 23, 2026

$40 registration fee after March 23, 2026

*Register by March 23, 2026 to guarantee your event t-shirt. Registration is optional for children ages 4 and under (unless t-shirt is wanted).

T-shirt Pick-Up

Pick up date at the school TBD, watch for more information.

T-shirts will also be available to pick up on the day of the race from 8:15-9:15am at the registration table, located at the event.

T-shirts may also be sent home with students, if requested.

Race Day Schedule of Events

8:15-9:15am: Late registration & packet pick-up, see registration table.

9:20am: Opening ceremony and National Anthem, get ready to race!

9:30am: 5K Run, Walk & Roll with the Huskies and 1 mile Fun Walk & Roll begin!

10:30am (approx): Awards ceremony

The 2026 5K Run, Walk & Roll is for all ages & fitness levels. Our 1 mile Fun Walk & Roll is free to participate and geared towards anyone not wanting to do a full 5K. This course is from the parking lot across from Phil Welch to 22nd Street and back. Walk & Roll all or some, it’s up to you!

Refreshments:

There will be water and snacks at the start/finish area.

Pets:

Dogs are welcome, provided they are friendly, on a leash and have updated vaccinations.

Chip Timing:

The race will be chip timed by local business ShowMe Running Company with instant results and finish line photos.

Location/Parking:

All activities will be held in the parking lot across from Phil Welch Stadium/Bode Ice Arena. Restrooms will be available at Bode Ice Arena and Phil Welch Stadium. Parking is free and accessible. You may park in the Phil Welch Stadium parking lots, Rec Center or grassy areas across the street, weather permitting.

Awards:

Awards for first, second and third place for male and female participants in the following age groups will be given: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Awards ceremony to be held at conclusion, you may pick up your award prior to the ceremony if necessary.

Who are you helping?

Helen Davis State School serves students ages 5 to 21 with significant developmental disabilities in St. Joseph and surrounding northwest counties. Students learn authentic skills in a safe environment to be productive and integrated into their home, community, leisure and work.

Helen Davis PTO is a 501c3 organization supporting the unmet needs of Helen Davis School and this year we are working to raise money for a brand new fenced-in Sensory Garden. We plan to include raised garden beds for easy reach, clear paths for wheelchairs and walking, sensory items such as wind chimes and fountains, and flowers/plants our students can smell and touch All levels of support are appreciated to help us reach our goal!

    Come for the run and stay for the fun! This is a great, family friendly race held in conjunction with the Amelia Earhart Festival, which is BACK this year!. Choose from the challenging 8k run/walk that provides some hills to test your training, or the 2k which is mostly flat with one uphill and one downhill, perfect for aspiring runners/walkers! It is chip timed with finishers medals given to help enhance those bragging rights! The race begins and ends at the Atchison Family YMCA. After the run, head on over to the mall area for even more family fun! This is not a closed course race.

    The Matt Mason “Cowboy UP!” Triathlon/Duathlon has been established to honor, pay tribute, support and celebrate the lives of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This triathlon is our way to stay close to our dear friend, Matt Mason, and keep his memory alive while focusing on supporting others like him and their families.

    Race Distances:

    Short Course Distance Duathlon is a 1.5 mile run (shotgun start), 11 mile bike course (2 laps), and a 5K run (mostly flat, out and back course).

    Short Course Distance Triathlon is a 500 meter swim (time trial start), 11 mile bike course (2 laps), and a 5K run (mostly flat, out and back course).

    Long Course Distance Triathlon is a 1,000 meter swim (time trial start), 18.8 mile bike course (4 laps), and a 10K run (mostly flat, out and back course).

    5:00am – Gates Open

    5:15am – Transition/Body Marking Opens

    6:15am – Swim Warmup Open

    **6:30am – Park Gates/Roads Close

    6:45am – Transition Closes

    6:45 to 7:00am – Opening Ceremonies

    7:00am – Race Starts (Long Course athletes in the water first)

    10:30am (approx.) – Awards Ceremony and Raffle Winners

    **Park roads will be closed until last biker is off the course

    Transition:

    Transition opens at 5:15am. All athletes will be body marked. Volunteers will be outside the transition entrance ready to help all athletes as they enter.

    Swim Start:

    Swim warmup opens at 6:15am. Transition closes at 6:45am and all athletes need to exit the area by that time. Race begins at 7am and long course athletes will enter the water first, followed by short course athletes. The swim course is clockwise, and the start will be a time trial start where athletes enter the water approximately every three seconds. You will see minute marker signs for both short and long course – athletes should place themselves in line according to the swim time that is most comfortable.

    Duathlon Start:

    Duathlon will shotgun start on the run path to the right of the beach away from the finish line at the same time the short course triathlon swim starts.

    Bike Course:

    Please keep in mind that there is an incline as you exit transition – please set your bike gears accordingly. After you exit transition, it is approximately 1.6 miles to exit the park and reach Highway E. At this point, you will need to count your loops around the course. Short Course will do 2 loops and Long Course will do 4 loops. There will be a timing box on the bike course for accuracy. A bike course map will be included in your packet.

    Aid Stations:

    There will be water stations along the run course. Short course athletes will pass 2 water stations and Long course athletes will pass 5 water stations.

    Awards:

    Age group and overall awards will be given for Men and Women for both the Short Course and Long Course Triathlon and Duathlon. The awards ceremony will be held near the finish line after the race.

    The Matt Mason "Cowboy UP' Triathlon/Duathlon is one of three events that make up the Midwest Triathlon Series, a three-race challenge held over consecutive weekends.

    How the series works:

    • Athletes must register separately for the Midwest Triathlon Series

    • Athletes must also register individually for each of the three series races

    • Series registration does not include entry into the individual races
