The Boone County Road Race - IL/WI Road Race State Championship is a cycling and road event held on Sunday, August 30, 2026. It is located at Lawrenceville Rd in Belvidere, Illinois.

COURSE: 30 Kilometers, 20k Juniors, 65+ and ParaCycle, out and back relatively flat with a few rollers. Riders must ride on right side of road. Riders are only allowed to warm up on the north side of
Rt. 20 away from the start/finish area. Start will be on Garden Prairie Rd. just south of Rt. 20. Course may be modified if road conditions warrant. Route 20 is a busy highway - careful crossing road. Roads are open to vehicular traffic
Please understand that the course is open to traffic so be careful particularly at intersections. Ride to the right side of the road.
We highly recommend using a rear red blinking light.

Back For 2026 - Road Bike Category – You can choose to race either TT Bike or Road Bike for all of the categories.Road Bike Definition - A road bike can possess drop or straight handlebars; no tri-bars, clip-on bars or Spinaci bars are allowed; no disc wheels; both front & rear wheels must have at least 12 spokes each; the maximum rim depth allowed is 90mm. Note: the spirit of this new Road Bike category is to encourage more participation in MATTS events by creating a more even playing field for racers who don’t have a TT bike. In general, if your bike would be eligible for a road race or a criterium, it would qualify for the Road Bike category. No “TT” Helmets.
Note - race day/on-site registration will be available for a $10 additional fee.

Our past participants say “ it’s a Great Beginners Triathlon, with Super Volunteers and free children’s activities to entertain your family while you race!”
Triathletes will swim 350 yards in the seven-lane pool. Participants will swim one lap in each lane ducking under the lane marker to transfer to the next lane. Once the swim is complete, participants will exit the pool and head to the bike corral for the start of the 17-mile country road open course which takes place in Winnebago & Boone Counties. Triathletes will finish in the bike corral and begin the 3.1 run on the Campus trails which are a mix of blacktop & crushed limestone sections.

Our nature based 5K Run/Walk or 2
mile walk will begin at Roscoe Middle School (RMS). The route proceeds west to the historic Stone Bridge Trail before turning south as you continue to pound the crushed limestone path. You will reach the halfway point, turn around and return to RMS.
*Please note that our course features a variety of running surfaces, including gravel.
