Welcome to the 20th edition for the Tour de Rocky Top, the Knoxville area's largest cycling event.

After 18 years at Barley's, Race Day Events is returning for the second year to Peaceful Side Social in Townsend. Reviews from the first edition at Peaceful Side were very positive, with the number one improvement being the route "approach" from Townsend instead of from downtown Knoxville. The same great Blount and Sevier Co roads are back again in 2026, along with the much improved post ride meal offered by Peaceful Side this past year.

The 2026 TdRT has expanded yet again to include EIGHT route options. These will include a slightly revised 24 miler, along with moderate 42 and 50 mile options for those not comfortable riding the longer distances. Those longer distances include a 62 and 77, both very similar to last year, along with a new 88 mile route that also avoids Butterfly Gap. The two Butterfly Gap options this year are 60 and 82 miles. Both Butterfly Gap route option finishers will receive Butterfly Gap finisher medals.

For those not familiar, Butterfly Gap is a short but epic 2.4 mile climb, averaging 8.2% but with sections approaching 18%. Butterfly Gap has been targeted for training by many pro cyclists including George Hincapie, Christian VandeVelde, Robbie Ventura, Brent Bookwalter, & Tom Danielson, and has been described by some as the toughest short climb in the southeast.

The final 8 miles of all routes have been changed to make the return to Townsend and Peaceful Side more moderate terrain.

Fully stocked rest stops ~every 15 miles, with all routes fully supported with multiple sag vehicles and moto support. Soft cotton ride logo shirt guaranteed to all riders, as well as DeFeet TdRT logo socks.

The post ride celebration at Peaceful Side Social will again exceed anything seen at previous TdRT editions. Cyclists will enjoy an outstanding post ride meal featuring fresh items from the chef curated menu from PSS, along with two free beers. Tour de France viewing (Stage 8) on several big screens will return in 2026.

    The Challenge is back again!

Ride every mountain bike trail in Knoxville on the hottest day of the year!

Realistically we will ride MOST of the Urban Wilderness trails in South Knoxville on a pretty hot summer day.

Knoxville is a great place to mountain bike and it's also beautiful in mid-summer. The density of the forest makes for a jungle-like experience. Test your skills with your friends on this challenging course.

The purpose of this event is to get together and go for a big mountain bike ride. It's going to be hot, it’s going to be hard, and it’s going to be fun. It’s not a race. There is no timing. There is no pressure to adhere to the course. Go swimming. Get ice cream. Take a nap. All good ideas. Just make sure you stop by the finish when you’re done so we know you’re doing good. Also, you’ll want your food!

    2 distance options:

Short course: 30ish miles. Start time 9:30

Ride with GPS Short Course Route

Long course: 50ish miles. Start time 8:00

Ride with GPS Long Course Route

Both route options will start/end at 2830 Harold Lane.

There is NO parking at the event address.

Parking is available at the gravel lots at Meades quarry (if you have a parking tag), or at the sunflower lot at Forks of the River (free, no parking tag required).

Make sure you have what you need for a long day on the bike (repair kit, snacks, water).

There will be 2 aid stations on each course.

They will have water, food, first aid, and limited mechanical support. Riders can send drop bags to each station.

The first station is at Anderson School. The second station is on the Far East Trail. There is also water at Baker Creek Preserve, View Park Drive, and Meads Quarry.

Packet pick-up starts at 6:30am at the event address. Packet pick-up is also avaiable at TVB Friday, July 17th from 2-6pm.

We will finish with food, drinks, swimming, and socilaizing (a post ride party).

The goal is to finish but mostly its to have a good time outside with our friends riding bikes.

Register by June 30th for $48.00 and you get a super cool custom event t-shirt, food, and beers/soda.

Register on or after July 1st until July 17th for $58. You might get a T-shirt but probably not. Same great ride, same great food/drinks.
