DINO returns (for the first time since 2013), to DePauw Nature Park, which offers stunning views in, and above, its rock quarry cliffs. The trail surface is mostly crushed stone, making it great for running when springtime trails are wet. It's an excellent choice for first time trail runners. There are a couple of steep hills of 50 to 100' vertical climb, but the majority of the route has very mild grades.

    • 12-Hour: Solo, Teams of 2, or Teams of 3–6

    The Course & Runners Village

Every loop brings you through Runners Village, where you’ll have a designated space for your tent, crew, and gear. You’ll also pass Race Headquarters, fully stocked with cold drinks, snacks, and essentials to keep you fueled all day.

Campgrounds along the course will be open for optional camping and include restrooms and water stations. This setup makes Hawthorn Half Day especially family- and crew-friendly—plenty of chances to cheer runners on lap after lap!

What Can You Do in Half a Day?

At Hawthorn Half Day, there is no set distance, only time, movement, and community. Take one lap or many. Set a goal or let the day unfold.

This race is about showing up, sharing miles, and finding your rhythm together.

Go solo or team up. Run, walk, or shuffle your way through as many miles as you can. Relay teams can split the distance however they choose, making this a great option for first-timers and seasoned ultrarunners alike.
