Apple Valley Criterium is a one-of-a-kind cycling race. Nestled in the hills of beautiful Lafayette, New York, the private race track consists of pristine pavement and sweeping turns, which make for a fast, safe, and technical race course that is extremely spectator friendly. Whether you're a new or experienced cyclist of any discipline, this is the course for you!

    Race Day Details:

Day-of Registration: We will have day of registration available at the check-in table from 8:00 am - 1:40 pm for $80.00 for your first race and $20.00 for any additional races (payable by cash or check). You must be registered at least 1 hour before the start of your event, no exceptions.

Parking: Parking will be available on site in the designated lots near the clubhouse, or in the secondary lot you'll pass on the way in. We will have volunteers directing parking and once the clubhouse lot is full we will direct traffic down to the secondary lot to avoid congestion. If you want extra space around your vehicle for warming up, etc. we suggest parking in the secondary lot.

Food Truck: We're excited to have the Mamacitas Food Truck available on site from 11am-3pm with tacos, rice bowls, and other food and drinks - here's a link to a sample menu: https://streetfoodfinder.com/latinoymassyr?tab=menu

Warmups: The track is open from 8:30am - 9:30am before the first race goes off, and there are 10 minutes available from staging until the race start which should allow for racers to ride 1 or 2 laps on the course so long as everyone shows up to staging on time.

Click here for the Strava route for the 2025 course, this is the same course layout we raced 2024.

    Rules:

Violations of any of the rules below could lead to being DQ'd in the Race Director's discretion. We reserve the right to shift start times, change the course layout, and/or combine fields based on safety issues and field sizes. Check your pre-race email for all final details before race day.

    • Absolutely no spectators are allowed on the track at any time during the races. Spectators can view the entire race from the border of the track or the wall along the finishing straight and surrounding grassy areas, no one other than race organizers and timers will be allowed to cross the track at any time - no exceptions!

    • Only ride clockwise on the track and be mindful of other riders on the track when exiting and entering - riders on the track have the right-of-way.

    • Be respectful of the volunteers and race crew! We couldn't execute these races without their support.

    • The track does not open until 8:30 am. Please stay off the track before then and follow the instructions from the volunteers at the designated on/off exits (do not enter the track from anywhere else).

    • Before each race, there will be 5-10 minutes for racers to ride a warmup lap before gathering at the start line. All other warmups must be done off the track. The roads surrounding the venue are somewhat hilly, so trainers are recommended - please be mindful to not take up additional parking spaces.

    • Be respectful of the venue (carry-in/carry-out; no littering).

    • No e-bikes or triathlon/TT bikes are allowed.

    • Our track time ends at 5:00 pm and we must clear the venue by 6:15 pm. We appreciate your help in promptly clearing the track after each race, as well as cleaning up and departing following the conclusion of the day's races.

    Race Schedule

Our preferred schedule is the one posted when you registered, however the Race Director reserves the right to change or alter the schedule as needed. If there are less than 30 riders in a given field, or if we run into an unexpected delay during the day, we may consolidate some fields as needed in order to hold all of the races planned. We will e-mail the schedule out the day before the race (July 18th) after registration has closed and will announce any changes the day of as soon as possible.

Results will be posted under the Pavilion where the registration tables are located - standard USAC 10-minute protest periods will apply and Awards will follow as soon as possible following each race in the parking lot near the finish line.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Race Director, Ben White via email.

We look forward to seeing you on race day!

The Gillie Girl Sprint Triathlon is located approximately 2 miles off Route 5 near West Hill Golf Course at the Intersection of Ike Dixon Road between Sand Road and Gillie Brook Road. The swim is 1/2 mile (2 loops) in a natural, spring fed Gillie Lake, a relatively flat 15 mile bike course and a spectator friendly 5k run to round out the course. This is a great event for all women - first time racers, seasoned triathletes and relay teams. Come join the 13th Annual Gillie Girl Sprint Triathlon, it's a spectator friendly course, and family atmosphere.

The 2024 edition will include the sprint triathlon (individual and relay) and Aquabike (swim, bike). This race category is popular with those not ready to run the 5k stance for whatever reason. Racers will swim and ride the same courses as those in the triathlon, but when you are done biking, you are finished with the race. We welcome you to the race infield to enjoy food and drink and cheer on your friends and/or family still on the racecourse!

The Life Worth Living 5K Run and Walk at Abbott Farms is an event to raise awareness to prevent suicide.

The 5K course is open to all, whether looking for a competitive race or just a fun time. Certainly unique, the road and trial course will run through various areas on the farm. The 5K course will include the roads through the housing development behind Abbott Farms. The course also includes a very special memorial orchard remembering over 80 victims with local ties who lost their battle to suicide. Not your average race! Runners will be timed utilizing chips.

At Abbott Farms, there will be ice cream, bakery goods, berry picking and a variety of other family fun activities. And don't forget to visit the baby animals in the barnyard. The Cider House Grille will be open with a full menu of grilled entrees and treats. Abbotts is well known for providing lots of fun on the farm for families and kids!

The event is in memory of Zach Helfrich, a former employee of Abbotts. All who knew Zach remember his smile, sense of humor and kindness. Zach had just turned 19 and graduated Baker High School. He was headed to Virginia Tech and accepted into the prestigious Corps of Cadets, US Army ROTC. Military service was his lifelong dream. We were incredibly proud of him. Sadly, Zach unexpectedly took his life on the morning of August 16, 2019. Let's celebrate our love for Zach as well as others who lost their lives to suicide, at the Life Worth Living day at Abbotts. With your help, we can raise awareness to prevent other similar tragedies.

The Zach Helfrich Memorial Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to build awareness, support effective treatment programs and reduce the prevalence of suicide among young people in our communities. To date, we have raised over $170,000, all of which has stayed in our community to support programs to reduce suicides among our teenagers and young adults. Among other things, we have established an endowment in Zach Helfrich's name to support the Upstate Medical University's Psychiatry High Risk Program which is a highly effective outpatient treatment center for adolescents and young people at high risk of suicide. They have phenomenal success and are truly saving young lives. We are also supporting the new Mental Health Respite Program at Elmcrest Children's Center in Syracuse which provides residential care for children and teens in crisis.

This event is to honor the girls and their “Angel birthdays” and bring the community that loves them together to celebrate their lives. All proceeds from the event will be shared with several community not for profits and Annal’s Angels, for the benefit of the Central New York community with a focus on literacy. Last year, donations were shared with The Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau, Friends Forever Animal Rescue, and the Baldwinsville Public Library. Past projects include the renovation of the Baldwinsville Public Library children’s room establishing the “Maryella & Elizabeth’s Children’s Corner” and fully funding endowment scholarships in each of the girl’s names.

Welcome to our 15th Annual Finger Lakes Mud Run! When we started this race fifteen years ago - it seemed wild to think we'd still be operating a decade and a half later. Through leadership changes, through COVID, through rain, sleet, heat, and drought, we've brought the FLMR alive every year. We are so excited to still be going strong at year 15 - and you can be sure there will be some special 15 year anniversary surprises for all of our registrants.

The Finger Lakes Mud Run is an outdoor challenge course that takes place on the beautiful grounds of Everest Park, with about 40 (in 2025) obstacles both man made and natural, that is usually just over four miles long. Designed to help cultivate camaraderie and teamwork, families and friends can look forward to an exhilarating, challenging, and extremely muddy adventure! Donations and registration net proceeds will go to Champions for Life, Inc., a non-profit organization in Auburn, NY, which operates the CFL Sports Center, Everest Park, and the Brian Bisgrove Home of Courage. For more information about Champions for Life, please click here.

Have you participated in past FLMR races? Have ideas about what you'd like to see at our 15th event? Contact us via the 'contact the race' button, and tell us what you think. Want to help participate in the planning of the Mud Run, or help construct obstacles? We always welcome input and assistance from our community of Mud Runners!
