Choose the Duathlon or any of the 3 different running distances, and let's Spring into Action!

    DUATHLON - 5K RUN / 12.91 MILE BIKE / 5K RUN

The Spring Classic Duathlon is a great opportunity for triathletes to shake off the winter-season rust and for the duathletes to get in an early-season race.

It will be a flat & fast course...perfect for those new to the sport of Duathlon and Triathlon! And for you veterans, this will be a fabulous opportunity to go all out and see who stayed in good condition this winter!

There are no railroad tracks on the bike route – just 12.91 miles of smooth pavement ideally suited for fast times. The course is virtually flat, and for the novice athlete, the sense of safety from not having to be overly concerned with vehicle traffic makes this event an ideal introduction to the world of multi-sport racing.

Spring Classic Half Marathon, 10K & 5K - This beautiful, flat and fast course along the pancake flats of the Vancouver Lake Regional Park is a wonderful event to set as a goal to keep your conditioning strong through the winter and spring cold and rainy seasons!

The Portland Triathlon Club presents an awesome opportunity to practice your triathlon skills in a non-competitive environment: The Annual Mock Triathlon.

PLUS! Join us for a ‘Mock the Mock’ event, which will include a course preview the morning of Sunday, May 3rd at Lake Vancouver. You are welcome to this free event for a self-paced or group course preview coupled with a ‘fix a flat’ workshop to cover basic bike maintenance and get us all set for the Mock Tri the following Saturday. Stay tuned for more details as we near the date.

This is an excellent training event - allowing you to see where you are in your triathlon fitness, as well as offering first-timers the opportunity to try the sport in a supportive environment.

This is a “mock” triathlon, not a formal competition with finisher medals and official timing. It is a learning race where all participants see demonstrations, attend clinics, and go through a Sprint or Olympic distance triathlon. Everyone has a chance to “tri" in a safe healthy atmosphere.

This is event is for participants 18 years of age and older. Current members are all welcome to participate! If you are not a current member of Portland Triathlon Club, you can purchase a day-of membership. Current members receive $10 off. We have TWO registration windows this year. We have "early bird" pricing from March 9 - May 2 and will increase the price for the week leading up to the event from May 3 - May 9.

After the event, stay and celebrate with the PTC at our BBQ.

There will be two distance options, which you will choose on event day. You can choose to try a sprint-like distance and an olympic-like distance.

The purpose of the day is for you to either try the sport, or to fine tune your skills before you summer races.

    Approximate distances include:

Sprint - Swim 500 meters, Bike 10 miles, run 3 miles

Olympic - Swim 700 meters, Bike 20 miles, run 5 miles

Not comfortable with swimming? We will have swim support that includes kayaks, SUP's and swim angels (experienced swimmers that can swim beside you).

The course for bike and run are out and back, so you can choose the amount of laps you complete. The course is flat and fast.

    RULES:

    • SAFETY TOW BUOYS (STBs): All swimmers MUST wear the STB, provided with their swim packets, during their entire portion of the swim. STBs, defined as inflatable buoys tethered to the waist of the swimmer, are permitted in Category I Swimwear events per USMS Rule 303.4.2.E. Swimmers may not use the STBs for flotation assistance.

    • Swimmers must wear the standard latex cap provided in their swim packet. Swimmers must notify race organizers by Friday, July 3, 2026 if the cap cannot be worn. You will need to wear a suitable cap of the color assigned to you for your wave.

    • All drafting is prohibited. Swimmers must remain 3 meters or more from other swimmers, except when rounding buoys, when overtaking other swimmers when space is not readily available, when unescorted at the start and finish of the swim, and/or when the swimmer's escort craft becomes disabled. Incidental or accidental incursion into the 3-meter zone of another swimmer shall not be the basis for disqualification.

    • Swimmers may not make deliberate contact with craft, craft operators, and/or physical features on or near the course during the swim.

    • Propulsive devices, such as fins & paddles, and flotation aids, such as pull-buoys, may be allowed at the discretion of the Race Director if an adaptive category is offered for the race. Please contact info@portlandbridgeswim.com before registering if you need to use an adaptive device.

    • Earphones and snorkels are also not allowed.

    QUALIFYING SWIM:

    • To qualify for individual entry, swimmers must show that they have completed a minimum 5000-meter (5500-yard) swim faster than 1:40, within 3 years of race day.

    • Only pool swims will be accepted for qualification. This qualifying swim does not have to take place in a competition, but registration requires the location of the swim and the signature of an observer.

    • If you make a mistake in your entry, we will make a good-faith effort to get your correct qualifying swim information. However, swimmers who cannot provide appropriate qualifying time information WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO SWIM and their entry fee will not be refunded.

CUT-OFF TIME: For safety coverage, swimmers on the course who have cleared the Fremont Bridge (approximately 5.5 miles) within 4 hours of race start (note: later waves have less than 4 hours) will be stopped, transported to the race finish, and listed as DNF in the results. Swimmers who have not completed the race within 7 hours of race start will be stopped, transported to the race finish, and listed as DNF in the results.

SAFETY—OUR PRIMARY CONCERN: Safety boats will monitor the entire course and medical personnel will be on site at the finish. Swimmers are required to have an escort in a non-motorized craft (kayak, stand up paddleboard) in a life vest and equipped with an additional life vest for the swimmer. Each escort will be provided additional mandatory race-specific safety materials. Swimmers MUST wear the brightly-colored swim cap and use the standard tow float provided in their race packet. Swimmers and escorts must follow all announced safety rules without exception.

ESCORTS: Swimmers are required to have an escort in a non-motorized craft (ie. kayak or paddleboard). Swimmers must provide their own paddler escort and craft. For swimmer safety, motorized watercraft are not permitted to escort swimmers.

KAYAK RENTALS: A limited number of kayaks, provided by Alder Creek Kayaks, are available for rental as an option at registration. If the escort cannot fit in a standard-size rental kayak, please contact the race organizers to discuss options.
