    Anchor Running Crew

Every Monday at 7 PM, roughly 120 runners gather at the corner of Koloniestrasse and Kruppstrasse in Duisburg to run with Anchor Running Crew, Germany's first urban running crew rooted in the industrial Ruhr Valley. Founded in January 2017 by Axel Bollmann, Henrik Bollmann, Claude Njunjic, and Alexander Lubina, four friends who discovered they wanted community over solo training, Anchor operates on a philosophy as simple as its meeting point is unassuming: nobody gets left behind. Free membership, all paces welcome, and the weekly Monday run becomes the heartbeat of the city's running scene. What makes the crew distinctive isn't just the easy-to-moderate pace or the mandatory post-run drinks where friendships crystallize, but their reciprocal support culture. Anchor members show up at the Duisburg Marathon with wall-to-wall cheering zones, travel to marathons across Germany and Europe as a crew, and celebrate every runner's achievements equally. In a city known for its port and industrial heritage, they've proven that authenticity and consistency build thriving running communities.
