    Welcome to the beautiful Welland Canal Boathouse, where the water is always great and the trails are fast. What a great location for our annual first event in Ontario. Now in its 9th season, The Welland Open Water Swim and SwimRun Challenge is one of our longest-running races and is a great season-opening event.

    NOTE the date. We have moved this event 1 week later than in previous years.

    Whether you are entering your first-ever open water swim or are a season veteran looking for a great early-season event, The Welland Open Water Swim is the place for you. With Distances of 1K, 3K, and 5K you can pick the distancet that works best for you.

    Calling all SwimRunners, or those who want to give swimrun a try

    Come and join us for our first Ontario swimrun of the season, where you swim in the waters of the Welland Recreational Canal and run on trails along its shores.

    This event is perfect for the first-time swimrunner with our 7.5 K distance and for the more experienced swimrunner with our longer 10K event. 2 distances that are perfect for an early season event.

    We are very excited about our upcoming season and look forward to a great crowd on June 14, 2026

    At Canaqua Sports, our goal has always been to host great events in exceptional locations. For 2026, we have moved this event to the Welland Community Boathouse. A new location with new challenges, perfect for our Signature event of the season.

    This event features open-water swim distances of 2.0K, 4K, and 10K in the beautiful waters of the Welland Recreational Canal, using our new 2K diamond course, with swimrun events in and around this section of the Welland Recreational Canal.

    Midsummer Open Water Swim

    Come and join us in the beautiful Welland Recreational Canal and pick your distance. Choose from our 2.0K, 4K and 10K distances

    • Course: The course will be a 2.0 km loop. All swimmers will do 1, 2, or 5 loops depending on their chosen distance.

    • The Mid-Summer Open Water Swim is open to swimmers of all ages 12 and up. We invite all those interested to join us and enjoy a great swim at this fantastic venue.

    Mudskipper Midsummer SwimRun Challenge

    Yes its Back for 2026 , the Mudskipper Mid-Summer SwimRun Challenge, Similar to the swimrun we do in June, but longer. NEW FOR 2026 is our Midsummer SwimRun Relay. One person runs, and one person swims—a new type of swimrun. Grab a partner and give it a try.

The Kids Triathlon is our newest, most heartwarming addition to the YMCA Race Series, giving young athletes a fun and supportive way to swim, bike, and run their way to the finish. Families can enjoy a BBQ lunch, free swim at Camp Robbins, and convenient bus service from Valley Central High School as they celebrate every child who “Gives it a Tri!”

    Before and after the race, a free swim event is available for all kids until 6:00 PM!
