Branson's Great Bacon Race is an event combining America's favorite food (BACON) and our favorite form of athleticism (RUNNING)! All to sponsor MISSIONS. Aid stations and finish line will be stocked
and full of delicious BACON! We offer a 5K and Half Marathon. All finishers will receive a unique bacon themed finisher medal and BACON t-shirt. Basically BACON Be Everywhere! There is so much BACON it’s BACON Me Crazy!
VIRTUAL RACE OPTION INFORMATION:
What is a Virtual Race? A virtual race is a race that can be run anywhere. Participants can run or walk the race distance wherever they want during the designated race period, even indoors on a treadmill.
How does a virtual race work? Simply register for our race complete the distance any time and anywhere you desire (even on a treadmill!) by the race date.
Who can participate? Anyone! Young or old, fast or slow – we encourage participants of all ability levels.
Can I walk? Do I have to complete the entire distance all at once? We encourage you to run as much of it as you can, but walking is okay! Most participants complete their run all at once, but we understand that not everyone is able to complete a 5k in one outing. So set your goal – whatever that may be – and go out and accomplish it! If that means you need to break up your run into multiple segments, so be it.
What if I can’t complete my run during the race period? It's okay, we understand that life happens. We still encourage you to complete the distance as soon as you can. We will mail medals to all registrants after the event date.
How do I track my distance and time? The most accurate way to do this is by using a Running GPS watch, but there are also several free smartphone apps available for iPhones and Android phones that you can use.
When will I receive my medal? We will ship all medals the 2 weeks following the race date.

5k 10k Run Trail Walk

Step back in time and test your teamwork in The Oregon Trail Team Run, a one-of-a-kind trail race set on the breathtaking 272-acre Sycamore Creek Ranch. This immersive, team-based experience blends
endurance, strategy, and storytelling across rugged terrain—no pavement, just trail. Inspired by the classic Oregon Trail adventure, teams navigate elevation changes, themed challenges, and the elements on a journey with one simple goal: you survived.
The Race Experience
Teams of 4–6 runners begin with a staggered start and race together as a “family.” While teammates don’t need to stay side-by-side on the trail, all challenges and the finish line must be completed together. No one gets left behind.
Race morning begins at The Heartwood Barn (The Trailhead), where teams receive instructions, and prepare to head west.
On the Trail
The Plains: Teams depart along open ranch views before descending into rocky terrain and a wide meadow; the most forgiving stretch of the course.
Challenge: Illness Strikes. One randomly selected teammate must be carried for 50 yards before continuing.
The River Crossing: Deep in the woods, teams face one of three randomly assigned, themed obstacles: Caulking, Ferrying, or Fording the River (purely thematic; no water crossing).
The Hunt: Each team member gets one soft-tipped arrow shot at animal targets of varying sizes. All targets earn time bonuses that will be deducted from the final race time.
The Final Push
The trail opens into a clearing before one last obstacle: a steep climb up a massive, manicured hill. At the summit, six Conestoga wagons stand in a circle: your arrival in Oregon. You’ve made it! You survived!
Finish Line & Celebration
The finish line features rations, refreshments, and cheering “Oregonians.” Afterward, racers hop on a hayride to The Gathering Place, where food, drinks, classic games, and celebration await.
