    Ottawa Frontrunners

The rear entrance of Ottawa City Hall on Lisgar Street has been Ottawa Frontrunners' gathering point since January 2003. No fancy banner or timing mat, just people stretching on the pavement three times a week, ready to move together through a city that has watched them do exactly this for over two decades. Ottawa Frontrunners is the National Capital Region's chapter of the International Frontrunners, a global network of 2SLGBTQ+ running and walking clubs rooted in the 1970s. The crew counts around 25 members across all paces and experience levels. The word "friends" in their mission matters deeply: the circle is drawn wide, and belonging is not conditional on any particular identity or pace. Joining costs nothing. There are no membership fees, no forms to fill out. Show up at Lisgar Street on a Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday, introduce yourself, and you are part of it. The Saturday morning session, which concludes with brunch at a local pub, is the social centrepiece of the week, while Friday is held specifically for women, trans, and nonbinary runners. The guiding rule is simple: no one runs alone.
