2nd Annual Weeping Willa Memorial Event
This gathering is dedicated to honoring individuals and families who have endured the heartbreaking loss of a child at any stage of life—including miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth, suicide, overdose, or beyond.
All funds raised will directly support grieving families by providing the financial resources and tools needed to navigate the journey of healing.
Weeping Willa, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was founded by grieving parents for grieving parents. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive community where no one walks through loss alone. While every loss is unique, we share the deep understanding of how devastating it is to lose a child.
Together, we aim to bring light to the memory of our children gone too soon and to nurture hope in each step forward.
Whether you join the 5K run/walk, the 1-mile walk, or bring your little ones for the kids’ fun run, this is more than just a race—it’s a family-friendly day of remembrance, love, and community, celebrating lives that will never be forgotten.
Start your 2026 Brownston Blockparty Weekend off right and join us for the 3rd Annual Firehouse 5K!
In days of old, the Firehouse Bar hosted the Chief's Run - a killer 10K loop that remains a sweet memory for many Washburn locals and visitors. Now, after decades have passed, we've brought back the fun run, with a slight change to the route. Lace up your running shoes - we've mapped out an awesome 5k-ish course that starts and ends in front of the Firehouse. Run, walk, jog, skip, mosey...whatever suits your fancy, before celebrating with a well-deserved beverage at the finish line (and at the half-way "aide" station, too, if you'd like).
Whether you're a seasoned runner, you're just looking for a fun way to stay active, or you're hungover from the Firehall Dance and being dragged into it by a well-meaning friend, this event is fun for all!
To top it all off! A portion of every registration fee will go to support heroes of our community: the Washburn Emergency Services!
With close to 1,500 participants each year, our Wednesday Night at the Races series has become one of our most popular Young Athletes Foundation (YAF) programs! Helping at a young age to build a love of running, these races are also central to our mission of providing pathways and opportunities for our community’s children to live healthy and active lifestyles.
The Wednesday Night at the Races series is FREE and open to any child ages 14 & under. Whether it’s your child’s first-ever race or they’ve just fallen in love with running, we’d love to see them at our next event!
In-person check-in will start at 5:00 PM.
The races will start at 6:00 p.m. on each of the dates listed below. Every participant is a champion and will receive a ribbon and snacks at the end of their event. All sites are wheelchair and adaptive participant accessible. Please see a race official when you arrive.
