Gobble, Jog, and Strut Your Stuff!
Get ready to hit the pavement in style—questionable style, that is! Join us for the most hilariously festive run of the season at Green Lake Park: the Tacky Turkey
Sweater 5K.
Dig out your most outrageous, over-the-top, turkey or holiday-themed sweater (the tackier, the better!) and jog, waddle, or strut your way through a 5K course filled with laughter, fall vibes, and questionable fashion choices.
Bring your friends, your family, and maybe even your weird uncle who actually owns a turkey sweater collection. (Leave your pet turkey at home—trust us on this one.)
Expect:
Festive photo ops
Fabulous prizes for the tackiest sweaters
A fun and inclusive community vibe
So lace up, layer up, and let your turkey flag fly. Let’s make this the most unforgettable (and eye-watering) sweater parade Green Lake Park has ever seen!

Please join us for our 9th Annual Silverdale Rotary Turkey Trot!
For the fifth straight year we're going free-range with our wild Turkey Trot at Newberry Hill Heritage Park. All events are run in the
woods -- away from streets, sidewalks, and cars. The park offers a scenic 2.7 mile loop fire road which offers a great course for our 1-Mile, 5K and 10K events.
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR OPTIONS FOR IN-PERSON REGISTRATION.
NOTE: There will not be day-of-race registration available.
Changes in 2026:
We will NOT have race-day registration in 2026. We will, however, have last-minutes sign-ups in the week of the event. Please check back for details!
Medals will be presented to the top male and female finisher in each of th 1-Mile, 5K, and 10K events. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st - 5th place by event and age category for the 1-Mile, 5K, and 10K. As in the past a commemorative ribbon will be presented to all Kids-Dash participans.
In 2026 we are increasing the numbers of port-a-potties to alleviate the lines we had in 2024.
Since 2022, this has been a chip-timed event.
Since 2023, we have initiated a "Family Registration" (discount!) package. Please see below for instructions.
All proceeds from this event will benefit non-profit organizations and causes to fight hunger in our community.
Additional Information
Parking is available on the property of Klahowya Secondary School. Please enter off of Newberry Hill and follow signs to the parking area. Staging, registration, and kids' dashes will occur on an access road to the Heritage Park. From the parking lot this access road will be clearly marked.
Race packets will be distributed at multiple events during the week preceding the race. Packets will also be available on race day.
The 1-mile, 5K, and 10K events will be run on a wide fire road consisting of compact dirt and rock. The 10K course makes a small detour onto a narrow side trail to supplement the distance needed. 10K racers will run the fire road loop twice. The course will be marked, and staffed for clarity. See link below for a course map.
Strollers are permitted on the course. For 10K participants there is a detour off the fire road onto a path to add the necessary distance for the race. Unlike the fire road this stretch will require your attention as it gets narrow in a couple of places. However, the restricted area is only over about 100 feet in total. And durable strollers will be fine through this area.
Well behaved, leashed dogs are permitted (and welcome!).
Total elevation gain/loss for the course is about 200 feet per lap for the 5K and 10K (2 laps).
Visit the following link to see the course layout: CLICK HERE FOR COURSE LAYOUTS
Each event will only be run once at the start time listed above. The estimated end time is not intended to suggest there will be a second running of the same event.
Please contact the race director, Ed Hamilton, with any questions or concerns. Email: [email protected], cell: 360-649-3004.

Join the Club!
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS
We're back at it again for our 4th year! Given that we had over 250 people register for last year's race; you heard that right... 250! We are asking that
everyone register as soon as possible so that we can have our ducks in a row come race day!
Registration will be capped at ~250 people and I will NOT accept race day signups like we have in the past. I'm also asking this year that we do not register kids in strollers, on bikes, or anyone/thing not planning to complete the entire 5k course on their own. This is to help ensure that we leave as many spots open for other racers as possible. Kids in strollers are of course still welcome on the course :)
As we've mentioned before, these events are organized and hosted by a very small group of people (less than 5) who pay out-of-pocket and donate their time to ensure these community events continue. During the registration process, you will be asked to donate - please consider a $5 minimum donation to the club to help ensure we can continue to afford and host these events in the future. We will also be selling enamel race/club pins and Pulse Brewed Coffee at the event. Sales of which will go to funding our ongoing club activities. We appreciate your support and understanding!
Onto the race details! We will be continuing to use the same course as last year and will be providing snacks at the end as usual. I will try to have some Pulse Brewed Coffee our there too!! Remember, the race will be hand-timed on an open course, so please be safe out there and comply with the finish line rules to help ensure the event runs smoothly and we're able to quickly compile results at the end :) Remember, we ask everyone to show up 20-30 minutes prior to the start of the race so that everyone gets checked in for a prompt 8:30am race start.
The event is open to folks of all skill levels. There will be prize categories for both walkers and runners, and if you're lucky, you may even get to bring home one of our Thanksgiving Day desserts that will be raffled off after the event!
Lastly, in the spirit of thanksgiving, we will again be collecting food donations for a local food bank during the event. If you are able, all donations are greatly appreciated.
See you out there!
