    Official rules.

    1. Sign up for the challenge here on runsignup.

    2. Go for a run, hike, or walk - inside/outside.

    3. Log your miles on the Strava App in the AARC Beat the Chill Challenge and 5K Club - search for the club in the app or registrants can be added after signing up.

    4. Participate in the AARC Beat the Chill Challenge 5K on February 28th at 10:10AM (Dome opens at 10). You will receive your prize at the race or pick up at Shoe Science. (Contact us if you need it mailed).

    5. Complete all 28 miles and you'll be entered to win AARC gear and other prizes!

    ***You do not have to participate in AARC Beat the Chill Challenge 5K to participate in the challenge or earn prizes. But you might get more prizes if you come. And you'll get to see running friends :)

    Support Northern State University Athletics through participating in the 4th Annual Dirty Jerde 5k! Proceeds will go directly toward athletic scholarships for Northern State TF/CC Athletes sponsored South Dakota National Guard. Our goal is to improve the student-athlete experience, and build a stronger connection between alumni, family, friends, and supporters of Northern State University Athletics.

    How to Participate:

    You have two options! Show up on Race Day on March 7th 9:00 AM sharp or complete the Dirty Jerde on your own! (Don't worry we believe you!)

    Either way, we hope you can make it and support our team!

    The Beer Mile is an event consisting of drinking a beer, running a 1/4 mile, and repeating that process 3 more times for a total of 4 beers and 1 mile of running.

    You must be 21 to participate. You must bring ID to the event.

    There will be three options to participate:

    Single - 1 person drinks all the beer and runs all the laps

    Double - Find yourself a drinking buddy (and running buddy) 2 people split the running and beer drinking. Each person must drink 2 beers and run 2 laps (1/2 mile total per person)

    Quad - This could be a good team-building exercise for your company, or softball team, or just you and three friends. 4 person team split the running and beer drinking. Each person must drink 1 beer and run 1/4 mile

    Suggested Training Plan : Get off the sofa, grab a beer, take the long way back to the sofa. Increase the distance to the fridge by one room every three days. Trying walking through the dining room, laundry room, and office. As you advance try going outside, and walk around your entire property....

    Check in will be 5-7pm Friday or 6:30-7:30am Saturday morning at Dahme lake.

    Transition area will be open at 6:30am on Saturday morning.

    Course description:

    Sprint Distance: 500 meter swim, 12 mile bike, and 5k run

    Super Sprint (Novice) Distance: 150 meter swim, 3 mile bike, and 1 mile run

    Swim: Lake swim in Dahme Lake

    Bike: Flat, out and back along highway 281, then 135th St, and highway 10

    Run: Flat, out and back along highway 281 and 135th St

    Brown County Fair Foundation 5K

    Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026

    Start Time: 8:30 a.m.

    Race-Day Registration Opens: 8:00 a.m.

    Start/Finish Location: Brown County Fair Office, Aberdeen, SD

    Kick off Brown County Fair week with a fun, family-friendly 5K hosted by the Brown County Fair Foundation! This community-focused event is designed to bring people together, support the Fair, and get everyone moving before the festivities officially begin.

    Held the Saturday prior to the Fair—when campers are already on site for the weekend—this 5K is the perfect way to start Fair week on a positive and energetic note. All proceeds from the event directly benefit the Brown County Fair and help enhance the experience for fairgoers.

    Walkers, bikers, and runners of all ages and abilities are welcome. This is a participation-based event focused on fun and community rather than competition. There will be:

    No timing or official results

    No race bibs

    No competitive pressure

    Just a relaxed and enjoyable 5K in support of the Brown County Fair.

    Course & Safety Information

    The course will start and finish at the Brown County Fair Office. A water station will be available along the route, and limited volunteers will be positioned at key locations. The course crosses 24th Avenue twice; while traffic is expected to be light, participants should remain alert and use caution at all times.

    Registration Information

    $25 if registered prior to July 24, 2026

    $30 after July 24, 2026

    Same-day registration available beginning at 8:00 a.m. on race day for $30

    Each registered participant will receive a complimentary Brown County Fair Foundation 5K t-shirt.

    Whether you walk, bike, or run, join us for a great morning of movement, community, and fun as we come together to support the Brown County Fair and kick off an exciting week at the Fairgrounds.

    “ALL abilities, ALL athletes, ALL achieving greatness.”

    “Your Race, Your Pace” is an event for the community to come together, and for each individual to succeed. It’s for ALL abilities, ALL athletes, to ALL achieve their goals. This is a unique race with multiple route options empowering and celebrating each participant from the avid to adaptive runner and everyone in between. Whether athletes walk, run, jog, or wheel to the finish line, they will be given a medal; they are champions for finishing their race at their pace. The route consists of a 1.5 mile loop and 3 mile loop (approximate distances). Participants can choose to complete one or both loops as many times as they wish and what pace they choose to reach their goals. This race is seeking sponsorship and participation from the entire community!

    Location: Wylie Park - Under the Flag

    Packet pick up: Wylie Park Birdhouse Friday 6-8 PM or Saturday morning under the flag 8-9 AM

    Start time: 9:30 AM; Routes close at 11:30 AM

    Post Race Refreshments: Celebrate following the race with refreshments and celebration!
