Overview The Baker Trail UltraChallenge is a 50-mile ultramarathon on the Baker Trail. The race starts at 6:30 AM; the deadline for finishing is fourteen hours later, 8:30 PM. Individuals as well as relay teams of up to 5 members may register. In 2025 we covered the Southern section. This year, we'll run the Northern section. Each year, a piece of a unique three-piece medal will be awarded to all individuals who finish within the fourteen hour cutoff. When you complete all three sections, you'll receive a handsome commemorative holder to display all three medals. You can run the series in any order -- once you've run all three, you'll receive the medal holder. The Baker Trail The 134-mile Baker Trail is marked as a typical hiking trail. Yellow blazes on trees, telephone poles, fence posts, guard rails, and so on indicate the path. Unlike many hiking trails, the Baker Trail is not always a footpath through the woods. In many areas, it follows dirt or paved country roads, some with narrow
shoulders. As with road running everywhere, you must always be alert and cautious.Because of the varying terrain, the UltraChallenge is more mentally demanding than similar ultras. You must always be watching for the blazes in order to stay on the course. In places, the Trail will be following a road only to abruptly turn off the road into the woods. Therefore, if you haven't seen a blaze in a few minutes, you may be off course and should backtrack to the last blaze and determine where you went wrong. Plenty of runners will go off-course at least once during the day. If you expect -- and accept -- that you will, too, it won't be quite as frustrating. The key to a successful race is to realize it quickly. Attending any or all of the three training runs (see section below) is a great strategy for learning the course prior to the race. The Venue The Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church (located at 30 White Street, Brookville, PA, 15825) will serve as basecamp for the event, with the
following activities taking place there: 1. Participant check-in2. Pre-race dinner 3. Camping (porta-johns on site)4. Shuttle service to the start line5. Drop-bag collection 6. Parking for individuals arriving race morning 7. Race finish line8. Post-race picnic Participant check-in is mandatory and we offer two options: 1. Friday evening between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the church. 2. Race morning, between 3:45 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. at the church. Yes, you may have friends or family check in for you and retrieve your packet and chip. This option is useful for relay teams, with one person retrieving packets for the entire team. The Course Last year, we traversed the Southern section of the 134-mile Baker Trail. In 2026, we cover the Northern section, with a scenic, point-to-point, 50-mile course that begins at the Northern terminus and ends at the Brookville Medothdist Church. With 6,200 feet of climbing, runners will enjoy deep forest, single-track trails that overlap with the North Country Trail
and meander through Cook Forest. Check out our website to see a detailed breakdown of aid station locations and other important information. Equity Historically, the Baker Ultra has averaged a participation ratio of 80% men and 20% women, which is the case of most 50-milers. In recent years, we've made a concerted effort to listen to female runners and learn about the barriers they face. We have gone on to adjust our procedures and marketing strategies to better align with the needs and interests of women. These efforts have paid off. The 2023 Baker Ultra 50-miler was comprised of 52% women, an exceptionally rare metric for a race of this distance. The following policies remain in place for the 2026 event: 1. Gender equity: 50% of the spots are reserved for women, 50% are reserved for men. 2. Transgender and nonbinary guidelines: we see you, we hear you. Join us! 3. Pregnancy (maternal and paternal) and Adoption deferrals: it's about time! Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Guidelines remain
in place for 2026 on onwards. The guidelines can be found here. For the third consecutive year we are hosting a "Women's Run & Raffle" to boost the women's field and foster a supportive environment for women. This event is FREE and takes place on Sunday, May 17 at 7:00 a.m., is co-hosted by Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy and Public Lands of Cranberry. The format includes a 4-mile loop, a 6-hour timeframe, food, giveaways and raffles. Choose to run the entire time, or pop in for one or two loops! Link to event details and registration for this free event. Training Runs For the fifth year in a row, we are offering training runs, free and open to the public. These guided group runs provide an opportunity to acclimate to the race course and fine-tune nutrition and hydration strategies. Dates for the training runs are: Friday, July 24, 2026Sunday, July 26, 2026Saturday, August 8, 2026 Check out our website event calendar where each training run is listed with important details + RSVP links.

Course
The course is a rugged and rewarding loop that strings together 13 interconnected trails across more than 17 miles of varied terrain. Your adventure begins with a lung-busting scramble up Seneca Trail, taking you to one of the park’s most iconic landmarks—the historic Cook Forest Fire Tower. From this vantage point, the forest stretches endlessly in every direction, offering a preview of the miles to come. After descending from the tower, runners head into the heart of the course, where miles of trail weave alongside the pristine Clarion River. The cool breezes and flowing water are a welcome reprieve before the course transitions to the tranquil paths of Tom’s Run, known for its shaded, serene beauty and consistently cool temperatures. The route immerses you in a cathedral of some of Pennsylvania’s tallest living evergreen trees, delivering a spiritual kind of solitude only found in old-growth forests.
Aid Stations
There are three aid stations along the course: at approximately mile 5, 10 and 15. Aid stations will include water, Tailwind hydration drink and usual snacks. These stops provide essential hydration and nutrition to keep runners fueled as they tackle the demanding loop. Runners are strongly encouraged to carry fluids with them as the day heats up rather quickly.
Runner Experience
The Cook Forest 25K is more than a trail race—it’s a shared experience. From the pre-race check-in to the final high-fives at the finish line, runners are embraced by a welcoming, tight-knit community. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or soaking in the serenity of the forest, you’ll find yourself surrounded by people who love the trail just as much as you do. By the end of the day, you’re not just a participant—you’re family.
Practical Details
Registration is available through UltraSignup. Lodging options include nearby cabins, campsites, and local inns, making it easy to turn race day into a weekend getaway. Weather in the forest can vary, so runners are encouraged to dress in layers and prepare for both sun and shade throughout the course.
About the Organizers
The Cook Forest 25K is hosted by a passionate group of local runners and volunteers committed to showcasing the beauty of their home trails. With a deep connection to the park and a focus on fostering community, this team has created a race that’s as heartfelt as it is hardcore.

Join us for the 1st Annual “Love, Jill” Memorial Race, a 5K charity run and 1-mile walk through the streets of Beaver along the beautiful Ohio River on August 15, 2026. This event is held in loving memory of Jill Renee Littler, who passed away on September 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
Jill’s strength was forged long before her cancer diagnosis. At just 15 years old, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, a fight she carried with her for 36 years. Through countless surgeries, hospital stays, treatments, and daily challenges, Jill faced her illness with quiet resilience, grit, and grace—never allowing it to define her or diminish the love she gave to others.
In early 2025, Jill was diagnosed with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. She approached this battle with the same determination and grace that defined her life. On May 2nd, Jill underwent major surgery that included extensive lymph node removal, partial mandible (jaw) removal, and complex reconstruction using a titanium plate, followed by reconstructive surgery. Her treatment continued with 33 rounds of radiation and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. Despite setbacks, severe side effects, and overwhelming physical challenges, Jill pushed forward with unwavering resolve, always focused on her family and the people she loved.
In August 2025, Jill was hospitalized after developing a blood clot in her lung. Following additional procedures, doctors discovered the cancer had spread. With love, clarity, and extraordinary courage, her family made the difficult decision to bring her home, where she passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 22, 2025. Race weekend falls on Jill’s birthday, making this gathering an especially meaningful celebration of her life.
Jill was the heart of her family and a bright light in the Beaver County community. She lived guided by the values she cherished—love of family, service to others, a strong work ethic, kindness, and gentle leadership. Whether as a coworker, friend, volunteer, or quiet supporter behind the scenes, Jill had a rare way of lifting people up. This event honors not only her memory, but the compassion, strength, and grace she shared so freely with everyone she met.
Participants may choose between a 5K run or a 1-mile fun walk. The event will also feature a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt, available for pickup at the event.

Why “Love, Jill”?
Jill ended every note, message, and reminder the same way she lived her life—with love. To honor that legacy, her family created the annual “Love, Jill” Scholarship, transforming her signature into a lasting gift for young people in our community. Through this scholarship, Jill’s message continues to inspire future generations:
“I believe in you.”
We invite the entire Beaver County community to join us in celebrating Jill’s life, honoring her legacy, and showing her family just how deeply she was loved.

THE BATTLES TO BIKES STORY:
For over 20 years, Jim Yurek (The Bike Lab owner) served his local western Pennsylvania communities as a police officer and in those decades, time and again he interacted with United States veterans in need. At the point he intercepted these American heroes, they were often deep in the throes of trauma, anguish and the feeling that America had forgotten about them. Many of these veterans struggled with mental illness, substance abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and physical injuries related to military combat. Following his retirement from law enforcement, Jim made a significant career change in 2021 and opened The Bike Lab.
Jim soon made friends with Drew, an Army veteran and bike enthusiast, and through the sharing of his harrowing military stories, spurred Jim’s quest to find a way to serve local veterans through The Bike Lab. The idea of Battles to Bikes was born.
In the fall of 2021, a small but passionate group joined forces as the Board of Directors for Battles to Bikes. The five-member Board is composed of business leaders, bike enthusiasts and local community members with a shared vision to serve the veterans of western Pennsylvania. One of the Board members is also an Army veteran. Drew serves as a Board Advisor.
In October 2022, Battles to Bikes was designated a 501c3 non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Starting out slow as many non-profits do, the initial funds of Battles to Bikes were raised through small raffles and a 62-mile paid-registration group bike ride event on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) in July 2022. Using an anonymous application process, Battles to Bikes – supported by The Bike Lab – was able to gift its first mountain bike, a Giant, to a local veteran on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in honor of Veterans Day.
In May 2023, Battles to Bikes presented a new Giant Cypress to our friends at Pittsburgh Warriors, a military service-connected hockey team for disabled veterans. Pittsburgh Warriors gifted the bicycle to veteran / Pittsburgh Warriors participant, Josh, who used his new rig to train for and participant in the July 2023 Healing Ride, a GAP trail ride from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. Since the inception of Battles to Bikes, we have gifted over 12 bicycles to local veterans.
Be sure to watch the Battles to Bikes’ Facebook page for fundraising events and group rides!

General Information:
The Buckeye 200 is an approximately 203 mile road run from Walnut Beach at Lake Erie to Wellsville, OH, just across the Ohio-West Virginia border. Runners will experience scenery that includes mountain foothills, post-steel industry cities, Amish country, and lakefront streets. The run is an out-and-back adventure that starts and finishes on the beach. With just under 6,000ft of total climb, the journey includes both long, flat segments as well as about 70 miles of rolling hills. A 6 day time limit requires runners to average about 34 miles/day. Crews are encouraged due to limited resource availability on some portions of the course overnight, but are not required. Many runners have successfully run the course self-supported. As this is an open road challenge with no official aid stations, runners will be dependent upon themselves or crew to obtain supplies. Those who are unable to complete the challenge will need to self-extract. If you need transportation back to your vehicle, be advised you might be waiting a while. This is a no frills event that runs on a budget. Stores, diners, and shops are plentiful between 6am and 9-10pm. There are several hotels on the course and within a few minutes walking distance of the course for those who choose to use them during the run. Towns with hotels along the course include Austinburg, Warren, Salem, Lisbon. Finishers will receive a large Buckeye 200 buckle, unique finisher's award, and other items. Those interested in running the Buckeye 200 should be experienced ultra runners, preferably with long distance experience in open road running. Many of our runners have completed other multi-day open road running challenges in the past. If this sounds like an adventure you'd like to experience, we'd love to see you on the road in August!**please note: THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, DEFERRALS, OR TRANSFERS.
Course Map
Minor changes may be made to the course map, but it will largely follow the route we've used in the past, with the vast majority of miles being run on Ohio route 45. The final course map will be posted on the Buckeye 200 facebook page and emailed to entrants once changes have been finalized. This is the route from 2025: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/3669970198
100 mile option
The 100 mile run will begin FRIDAY, AUGUST 14th at 0700 at the Wellsville Nicholson Stadium and will finish at Walnut Beach. Those running the 100 mile challenge are REQUIRED to have their own transportation to the start. Cutoff is 72 hours. There are no refunds or deferrals.
Giving Back
$20 of every paid entry for the 2026 run will be going to the Wellsville high school athletic department. Wellsville Nicholson Stadium has been our turnaround point for several years. The Buckeye 200 supports local youth!
500 mile award
Those who complete 500 official miles on the Buckeye course will receive the '500 Lifetime Miles' award. This is a "rodeo large" buckle that you'll be proud to display! As of the completion of the 2025 event, 5 people have earned this award: Henry Lupton, Kyle Dudley, Ronald Ross, Justin Daniels, and Tim Hardy. Please be advised that only official finishes count toward this award, and prior to 2023 there was no 100 mile drop down for 200 mile runners who did not complete the full distance.

The course record is currently 53:56:59, set by Alex Ramsey in 2023. Aneta Zeppetella set the women's record at 58:08:36 in 2022. Any male or female runner who can break their respective course record will earn $100 and free entry to all future Buckeye challenges.
