The Mini Mountain Challenge goes down this July 26, 2026 at Sunday River. Five hundred of the toughest and gnarliest kiddos from ages 4-12 take to the mountain obstacle course. The Mini Mountain
Challenge is a scaled-down version of the Tough Mountain Challenge designed for kids ages 4 to 12 that's all about having fun and getting dirty. Mini Mountain is organized into heats broken down by age group. Course length and obstacles will vary by these age group, and everything is located in the same venue as the full Tough Mountain event.

The Conway Area Humane Society is excited to host our annual Bark in the Park fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Do you have a beloved furry friend you’d like to honor?
Whether they’re still by your side or have crossed the rainbow bridge, you can register today for our annual Honor Walk through Whitaker Woods or purchase a trail marker in their memory. This family- and pet-friendly walk raises critical funds to care for the animals awaiting their forever homes.
Registration is now open to walk, fundraise, and win prizes! The Honor Walk begins at 10:00 AM in Schouler Park (meet at the info booth). After the walk, stay for a full day of fun including contests like “Best Bark” and “Best Tail,” plus an agility course for your pup to try.
New this year!
On Friday, September 18, 2026, our information booth will be open from 1:00–6:00 PM for early walk registration and to learn more about the Humane Society. That afternoon, Seacoast Dock Dogs will host a diving competition from 1:00–4:00 PM, followed by a special “Try Dock Dogs” wave from 4:00–6:00 PM. Participants can register on-site, and 50% of the “Try It” registration fees will be donated to Conway Area Humane Society.
On Saturday, enjoy live music throughout the day, Dock Dogs competitions, vendors, food trucks, pet- and family-friendly games, and (availability and temperament permitting) some of our adoptable dogs.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you and your pups while raising vital funds for animals in need! 🐾

The 26th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship® returns to Sunday River on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of our Fall Fest weekend. It’s weird, wild, and wildly entertaining—this
one-of-a-kind event draws competitors and spectators from across the globe to see who has what it takes to carry their partner to victory.
Teams race on foot through a 278-yard obstacle course that includes log hurdles, a sand trap, and the fan-favorite “Widow Maker” water hazard. The fastest two teams from the qualifying rounds will advance to a final heat to compete for the championship title—and some pretty quirky prizes, including the wife’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash.
Not Married? No Problem.
Couples don’t have to be legally married, but teams must consist of one man and one woman, and both must be at least 21 years old on race day, to qualify for the world championship.
