TOUR THE STATE OF NC-PAIN FREE?
Take part in the first race of its kind across the state of North Carolina. Starting in Sparta racers will traverse self-supported across the entire state finishing at Jockey's Ridge State Park. Racers will have to rely on their own wits, logistics and sheer will to complete this event. Racers will park in Waco, North Carolina at the residence of the race director. The parking is in a secured site that is monitored 24/7. Racers will load in vans/buses at 0500 and proceed to the Sparta post office where the race will start at 0700. Racers will have 336 hours/14 days to complete the distance. All racers will receive a custom finishers award and the ability to buy a finishers hoodie that only those who do the entire distance qualify for. This is a graduate level journey run. No refunds will be provided after registration and any racer who wishes to drop can sell their entry to another runner. Deferrals will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Racers that finish in Jockey's Ridge will be able to stay in a hotel near Nags Head (paid for as part of the entry) and will be shuttled every 24-36 hours back to their car. Racers who have a tight travel window can be shuttled as needed. There will continue to be one award for the top Super Master winner (Age 60 +) both male and female.

The Galax Autumn Days 5K Run and 1-Mile Kid’s Race both start and finish in Felts’ Park at 601 South Main Street, Galax, VA. The 5K course is flat as it follows Chestnut Creek with a ½ mile stretch of the course being run on the New River State Park.

Greetings! The 10th Annual Chad Lovette Memorial Trail Run Hosted by numerous friends and family will be held on 9/27/2025 at Cub Creek Park in Wilkesboro, NC!
For our 10th year, we will be featuring RaceResult chip timing to improve timing accuracy and facilitate near-live results posting. Signs with race-specific QR codes will be posted near the start/finish line so you can scan them with your mobile device to access results. As a result of this upgrade, your race bib will include two RFID tags affixed to the back of the bib. Please take care not to fold or crinkle the tagged bib as this can damage the RFID tags and potentially cause you to be missed by the timer’s HF readers.
Afterparty plans are to be announced later.
We look forward to welcoming newcomers and past participants for this fun trail run. Also available -- the virtual fun run/walk option for those that are not able to make it in person (but who really want that T-shirt!) Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society, specifically The Steel Magnolia's Battle/Necessary Relay for Life Team.

More about our beloved Chad Lovette and the inspiration for this run: Chad was a native of Wilkes County and passed away on July 9, 2016 after an extended battle with brain cancer. Chad was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was a singer/songwriter and most enjoyed playing music with his brother, Shay, and with his band, Green House.. His passions were traveling far and wide, hiking, surfing, camping, and living large with his family and friends. This race is in honor of Chad's love for life, the outdoors, music, and fellowship. 7 Mile starts at 10:00. 3 Mile starts at 10:15.Climb your way up the mountain like a nimble mountain goat! 3 mile and 7 mile options for all levels of goats and goat-like creatures.3 mile course: start at the Pilot Mountain State Park campground. Run out the wide gravel trail, turn right onto Grindstone Trail. Climb up the mountain to the upper parking lot. Run out the Pilot Knob trail and around the knob. Return back to the finish line on the sidewalk above the bathrooms. 7 Mile Course: Start in the Pilot Mountain State Park campground. Run out the wide gravel trail and stay straight to go onto Grindstone trail. Turn onto Mountain trail to run around the back of the mountain. Mountain trail connects back to Grindstone trail. Run up Grindstone trail, around the pinnacle on Pilot Knob trail and finish the same place as the 3 mile race. NOTE: Both races START in the campground and END at the top of the mountain. You will have to run/walk back down the mountain to your car (2.25 miles back down the trail) or get a ride back down from friends or family. You CANNOT ask a park ranger for a ride back down after the race. Race Capacity Limit of 150 runners total - Register Early to ensure you get a spot! The first 49 cars will park at the campground, any additional cars will be parked in overflow parking lots. Early packet pick-up will be available outside the Pilot Mountain Visitor Center on Friday December 18 from 4:00-5:30 pmPacket pick-up will be available race day at the starting area from 8:15 am until 9:50 am. Please do not arrive at the park before 8:00 am, the park does not open until 8:00 am.
Cancellation Policy
No refunds will be given for registered runners unable to attend on race day. Runners can change distance registered for or transfer their registration to another person by December 16, 2026 through Ultrasignup. Registration can not be transferred to another race or to the next year.The Pilot Mountain Goat will take place rain or shine, unless Pilot Mountain State Park is closed due to weather conditions. If the state park does close for weather conditions, we will make every effort to reschedule the race for a later date.
