Check-in for the race begins at 10 AM, and the race will begin promptly at 11 AM.
This will be the Alpha Lambda chapter's eighth annual mental health awareness run for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Outrace the Stigma began in 2017 to raise awareness for mental health and the resources available at North Carolina State University and the greater Triangle area.
NAMI is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and provides essential education, advocacy, and support groups at no cost for people living with mental illness and their loved ones. NAMI addresses the mental health needs of our community, replaces stigma with understanding, and helps thousands of families and individuals each year.
Approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States, or 43.8 million adults, experience mental illness in a given year.
Omega Phi Alpha is a national service sorority with 30 chapters across the United States. Omega Phi Alpha's motto is "Today's friends, tomorrow's leaders, forever in service." Our permanent project has been mental health since 1971, chosen by our late National President Susan Terzian. This project is extremely important to our chapter, and we are focusing on bringing awareness around the issue of mental health in the greater Raleigh area.

Thank YOU 2025 Runners!

What is the TOBACCO ROAD RELAY?
The Tobacco Road Relay is a tour of North Carolina's Triangle, its beautiful cities, historic and protected greenways, single track trails, roads less traveled and roads often traveled. It's a day of challenge, adventure and memories for you and your best friends.
The Tobacco Road Relay is a one day, 75-mile relay-style running race. Teams of 2-6 runners navigate the 75-mile course, which begins in Chapel Hill, runs through Durham to the finish in Raleigh. The course is divided into 12 legs (6 runners = 2 legs/runner), with each leg ranging in distance from 4.2 - 9.6 miles. Teams are permitted one team vehicle to navigate between exchange zones and to carry their inactive runners, food, water, sports drinks, first aid, ice and other needed supplies.
The diverse course showcases the Triangle:
-
Residential neighborhoods of Chapel Hill
-
Country roads as the race progresses from Orange County to Durham County
-
Eno River State Park single track trails
-
Ellerbee Creek Trail as the race progresses into downtown Durham
-
Downtown Durham
-
American Tobacco Trail from downtown Durham to Wake County
-
White Oak Creek Greenway and Blackcreek Greenway as the race navigates through Apex and Cary
-
Umstead State Park's dirt Old Reedy Creek Road
-
Reedy Creek Trail and Rocky Branch Trail to navigate over and under the busy roads of Raleigh
-
And... cap it all off with the Finish at the Tobacco Road Brewery in downtown Raleigh!
When is the TOBACCO ROAD RELAY?
Saturday, April 25, 2026
What time does the TOBACCO ROAD RELAY start?
Rather than a mass start like most races, the Tobacco Road Relay will start in waves. Waves of approximately 10 runners (teams) will start every 10-15 minutes. Using a staggered start will minimize the race impact along the course and will keep the event within an approximate 5 hour spread. Start times may range from 5:00am - noon.

Wednesday night short track MTB fun is back for 2026! We'll race at the Spring Hill course (sponsored by NC State Centennial Campus) for three weeks: May 20, May 27 and June 3.
The course will be very forgiving. Mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes, and gravel bikes are all appropriate. Jumps and any other challenging features will have ride arounds.
Feel free to register for whatever category feels best to you. First-time racers to seasoned, salty mtb dogs, everyone's a winner when they sign up for this one.
This will be a fun race. Only the top three finishers in each category will be scored and there is no omnimum - just good vibes.
FULL SERIES REGISTRATION
If you register for the full series, you will save $10 and automatically be added to all three weeks!

In both memory and honor of William “Wild Bill” Sonner, Seven Oaks and the Stonehenge HOA is proud to hold our fifth annual Wild Bill 5k in 2025. Wild Bill was a coach, mentor and community leader in Raleigh for decades. The same passion that made Wild Bill an All-American athlete at NC State, made him a beloved Raleigh fixture for nearly 70 years. While his forte was swimming, Wild Bill was well known for running daily, no matter how hot the summer days got. Wild Bill was relentless and we wish to harness that energy to raise money for good causes in his honor.
The 5k course has been certified by USATF and issued course number NC21006BDS. An easily viewable course map is linked below and HERE using mapmyrun.

What is a Tunnel To Towers Run & Walk?
The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! For more information on the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation please visit www.T2T.org.
This will be the 14th year in the Triangle, and we are excited to, once again, bring together the community to honor first responders, remember 9/11, and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers programs.
How far is a Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk?
This is a 5K (3.1 miles) to walk or run this event. Anyone can run, walk, or experience this event.
Where can I pick up my packet?
Registration/packet pickup will be held at Forest Pines Elementary School located at 11455 Forest Pines Drive Raleigh, NC 27614 on Friday, 10/16/2026 from 5:15pm-7:00pm. Same day registration/packet pickup will open up at 7am on Saturday, 10/17/2026. This will take place in the cafeteria.
Can I register the day of the run?
Yes. Registration will open at 7am the morning of the run. If you wait to register, we may not have a shirt for you and we do not guarantee sizes for late registrants.
When does online registration close?
Online registration will remain open until race day registration is closed. If you register after packet pick-up, you may not receive your t-shirt and any other race day swag.
Do I have to wear my bib number?
Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment. Those who run without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.
I am a fast runner. Can I get a front-line position?
Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral (arrive early).
Will there be awards for running?
Yes, we keep them very simple since our mission is to honor first responders, most of our awards are based on firefighters, police or military running in gear in the same fashion that Stephen Siller did on 9/11. This event is intended to be an experience and much more than a run.
Will water be available?
Yes, a water station will be available along the route and there will be water available at the start/finish line.
What can you bring to the event? Can I run with a stroller, backpack, wheelchair, roller blades, bicycle, etc.?
Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted. Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted. Please leave all personal items and valuables in your vehicle. All items should be stored securely at the owner's risk. Tunnel to Towers Foundation will not be responsible for the loss of any items.
Does my registration fee count towards my fundraising goal?
Your registration fee does not count toward the fundraising goal.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, they can. They must present a copy of your registration receipt. And don't forget to thank them!
Can I still donate to a team and/or individual after the start of the race?
Yes. Donations will be accepted for 6 weeks after the event.
How can my company/organization sponsor this event?
Please send all sponsorship correspondence to [email protected] with your contact information and someone will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
I would like to donate goods or services to this event. How do I do that?
You can contact us at [email protected]. We make every effort to keep costs down to allow us to give the most to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Stephen Siller's name. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.
As a participant, can I fundraise/encourage others to donate?
Yes! Once you are registered, you will be given directions to start your own fundraising page and you will be able to accept donations online. Do you want to donate cash/money? We can help you with that. Contact us at [email protected] and we can walk you through the process or you can send donations directly to ATTN: Colleen Grace - 2361 Hylan Boulevard., Staten Island, NY 10306 - please give us your information so we can add it to your fundraising page.

The Murphy Scholarship is Leesville Road High School's first endowed scholarship. Founded in 2011 in memory of Leesville's first principal, Richard J. Murphy, it seeks to inspire incoming students by recognizing the best of our graduating senior class.
The major fundraiser for the scholarship is the Leesville Community Turkey Trot, presented by Murray Moyer. Our USATF-certified 5K race takes place on local neighborhood roads and serves as both a great volunteer opportunity and an informal reunion for Leesville alumni and families.
Whether you are running to win your age group & prizes or stroll & enjoy our fun "Roost Stops" along the way, we hope you can join us!
Course and Registration Information
This course is wheelchair, dog and stroller friendly. Please note there will be course monitors and a police presence but the roads are not closed and participants should yield to motorized and nonmotorized vehicles.
The course map is available at the following link: http://www.murphyscholars.org/uploads/1/4/0/2/140218680/certified_course_map.jpg
We encourage pre-registration for those who wish to be timed. Race day registration may be available if the race is not sold out; however, race day registrants will not receive an official time.
If you do not wear your race number pinned securely on your front midsection, the finish line officials will assume you do not want your time recorded or reported. If you do wear your number as directed, it is assumed that you consent for your official results to be posted publicly, including gender identification designation.
