Welcome to the Brian J. Smith CHAMP 5K! All proceeds from this 5K benefit CHAMP Assistance Dogs (www.champdogs.org) based in St. Louis, MO. In 2025, CHAMP placed 5 assistance dogs (service dogs and facility dogs), with each dog costing CHAMP up to $40,000. Part of the beauty of CHAMP is that these dogs are placed COMPLETELY free of charge.
This 5K is in memory of Brian J. Smith, beloved husband, father, and friend. His memory is a blessing to all who knew and loved him. For years, Brian volunteered at CHAMP Assistance Dogs because he loved their mission, so we host this 5K in his memory to raise funds for them. The 5K has both virtual and in-person options. The in-person option is scheduled for Sunday, March 1st, 2026 (rain, snow, or shine) at 10:00 am at the Tremayne Shelter in Sailboat Cove at Creve Coeur Lake Park 13725 Marine Avenue St. Louis MO 63043.
Our 5K is completely inclusive: you participate HOW you want, WHEN you want. The in-person event is fully wheelchair accessible. For the virtual event, we have had people: roll, run, walk, jog, dance, ice skate, and swim. All proceeds benefit CHAMP Assistance Dogs . Well behaved dogs on leads are always welcome!
The in-person event starts at 10:00 am, feel free to come a few minutes early to collect your race packet (including your medal). If you registered for the in-person event but are unable to make it, your medal will be mailed to you.
If you registered for the virtual event, your medal will be mailed to you. BE SURE TO SIGN UP FOR THE RACE YOU WANT: IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL.
If 5Ks are not your thing, please feel free to donate to CHAMP in Brian's memory: www.champdogs.org
