    Hanson Hills Hoppers:

    A six-week program specially designed for children from ages 4-7 years old. This program is animated and colorful to keep the attention of our young students. Lessons are held Saturdays at 11:00am -12:30pm starting on January 10, 2026. Each lesson will last an hour and a half, and then students will be allowed to stay and ski the rest of the day. Package includes equipment rental including helmet and lift ticket for the day. Participants will receive a certificate and a Hoppers pin. Class fee: $250.00 (package is $618.00 value)

    Snowboard Academy:

    A six-week program specially designed for beginners ages 6-14 years old. This program will teach students the fundamentals to snowboarding, including turning and stopping. Each class will last an hour and a half. Participants will receive a certificate and a pin. The program cost $250.00 which includes equipment rental and lift ticket for the day ($618.00 value). Class is held at Hanson Hills Recreation Area Saturdays at 1:00pm -2:30pm starting January 10, 2026.

    CASD 9th-12th Learn to Ski Free Program:

    This program is for NEW skiers only! Crawford AuSable School District 9th- 12th grades.

    Your child will attend one (1) day a week. Class will meet on Tuesdays for five (5) weeks beginning January 13, 2026. BEGINNER Lessons will be given from 3:30-5pm. Parents: Transportation to Hanson Hills will be provided by the Crawford County Transportation Authority at no charge. You must pick up your child at 5 p.m. If CASD is closed due to scheduled days or ½ days off, or inclement weather, ski lessons will be cancelled.

    Sponsored by AuSable Family Dental. This program is for kids that know how to ski and have an interest in racing. HHRT coaches will teach fundamentals to racing and give kids an opportunity to race on a slalom course. Equipment and a Hanson Hills Lift ticket is required. Weekly Medals! Participate every week for a FREE Hooded Sweatshirt!

    LEVEL 1:

    This six-week program will be held on Sunday’s from 11:00am to 12:30pm beginning January 11, 2026. Students will learn to match skis into skidded turn, learn proper body positioning, increase speed and stability and ski other varied terrain. The six-week program cost $250.00 ($618.00 value) includes equipment rental and lift ticket for the day. Students will also receive certificate and pin. Program is held at Hanson Hills Recreation Area. Skier must be able to stop and turn prior to starting class. Recommended for ages 5-12 years.

    LEVEL 2:

    This six-week program will be held on Sunday’s from 11:00am to 12:30pm beginning January 11, 2026. Students will learn to refine the skidded turn to an edge turn and increase speed and stability learn to ski in a more dynamic way. The six-week program cost $250.00 ($618.00 value) includes equipment rental and lift ticket for the day. Students will also receive certificate and pin. Program is held at Hanson Hills Recreation Authority. Skier must be able to make a skidded turn prior to starting class. Recommended for ages 6-12 years.

    Grayling Middle School Ski Team:

    Practice Begins Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Hanson Hills from 3:45 – 5:00 PM. Practice and race schedule will be provided at first practice.

    Hanson Hills 3rd annual Snowshoe Poker Run. Plan for an afternoon outdoors enjoying the beautiful, wooded terrain of our snowshoe trail. Length of the course approximately 2.5 miles.

    ALL AGES WELCOMED - Trail conditions may not warrant the use of snowshoes, participants may want boots and /or crampons. Event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

    Come join CASA as we host our Plant the Pitch 5k. This fundraiser is to help CASA with a 3-acre field expansion. Race will take place at the CASA soccer fields where you will make 2 laps around the county property. Entering your second lap you will encounter a skills challenge then continue to finish the course. This event is open to all!

    WHO CAN JOIN?

    This group is open to any child going into 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade for 2026-27 School year.

    WHAT IS IT?

    This is a fundamentally based running club which will focus on fun exercise and light-hearted competition through team games and activities. Children are broken into small groups for the “long run”, which ranges from ¼ mile to 2-mile distance (depending on age and ability).

    WHEN DO WE MEET?

    Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5pm.

    Season dates: June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18. RAGNAR RACE June 20

    WHERE DO WE MEET?

    We will meet at HANSON HILLS RECREATION AREA.

    DIAL-A-RIDE will be arranged for ELY Participants traveling-

    from the Elementary to Hanson Hills.

    Parents must arrange transportation after the program ends at 5pm.

    HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

    INDIVIDUAL: $30 FAMILY (up to 5 kids): $75 The price includes 3 weeks of instruction with snacks, and a Mighty Milers T-shirt. As well as entry into RAGNAR 1 mile event at Hanson Hills.

    Learn to Kayak: This is an introductory recreational kayak course for boys and girls ages 7-15. Students will learn or improve basic strokes, water safety, and fundamentals all while having fun. Class will be held on June 18,19,25,26, & July 2, 2025 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Class fee includes instruction, a Paddle Club t-shirt, use of boats, paddles, and PFD. (You may bring your own properly fitting PFD if preferred) Please bring a water bottle, sunblock, water shoes, and swimsuit. Cost: $55

    Youth C2-Race Canoe: This program is for ages 10-18 who are interested in more advanced canoe paddling techniques. During this class Paddlers will receive performance coaching while using C2 racing boats, where they will improve their speed, technique, and fitness. Class will be held on June 18,19,25,26, & July 2, 2025 from 5:15pm to 6:30pm. Class fee includes use of C2 racing boat, paddle, PFD, and Paddle club shirt. Please bring a water bottle, sun block, water shoes, and swimsuit. Cost: $65

    Location: Instruction will be held at Camp Grayling beach area unless notified otherwise. Prior to the first class we must have the full name and phone number of any person(s) that will be entering Camp Grayling for Grayling Paddle Club, including people transporting students.     Packet pick-up and Registration will be conducted the day of the race at the Hanson Hills Recreation Area lodge from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

    Wave Start Times

    Waves will start promptly at times as indicated below. Please be at the start area in time to fill your wave,

    10:00 AM 22 KM Skate* (OPEN Race - *MI-Cup Men's scoring event)

    11 KM Skate** (OPEN Race - **MI-Cup Women's scoring event)

    10:03 AM High School/Juniors Division - Boys and Girls 5KM

    10:05 AM Citizen Division*** - 5KM Freestyle (*** Mi-Cup Super Senior 70+ Scoring event)

    Citizen Division*** - 5KM Classic (*** MI-Cup Super Senior 70+ Scoring Event)

    Chip Timing

    The Cote Dame Marie will be timed using Chip Timing technology. The chip will be attached to your bib. Make sure Chip panel is positioned on the front of skier. Please do not fold or bend the chip. There is no need to return the chip after the race. Souvenir Finish receipt will be issued at awards table.

    Course

    The race start is located behind the softball field. The finish line is at the base of the ski hill behind the lodge building. Both the start and finish areas are only a short ski/walk from warming areas. The course will be a loop trail. The 11km races will complete one lap of a course and the 22km race will complete one lap and then continue onto our new racer cut that will follow our Guyton Trail (snowshoe trail) to the Blue uphill and complete a second lap. The Citizens Classic course will be set with a classic track the entire length.

    Food and First Aid Station

    We encourage participants to carry or provide their own water bottle for consumption.

    Results:

    Results will be posted periodically at the Hanson Hills Lodge.
