The Casco Bay Islands lie off the coast of Portland, Maine, and consist of several hundreds of islands. Some of these are uninhabited and relatively small, while others are larger with established communities, each featuring its unique charm and vibe. The most popular islands to visit include Bailey, Chebeague, Cliff, Great Diamond, Little Diamond, Long, and Peaks.

The Breakaway 5K and Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run are the principal fundraisers supporting scholarships for Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. The scholarships are awarded by the MAPS Scholarship Foundation, a group of retired educators and former students from OOB who aspire to support the continuing education of OOB High School graduates. 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the MAPS Foundation.
In 2025, MAPS Scholarship Foundation granted sixteen $1000 scholarships to Old Orchard Beach High School graduates.
The race start location is at the corner of Walnut St. & Milliken St. in front of the public parking lot. The course follows Milliken St. and West Grand Avenues to Ocean Park and back to the finish at The Brunswick. The course is mostly flat and fast. PR's Very Possible!! Join us at The Brunswick on the beach for a post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony!

A mountain-forged climb of Cannon Mountain through dense White-Mountain forest, rocky scrambles, and steep ridgelines. The route ascends forest track and rugged scramble sections before you break through to sweeping views over Franconia Notch and the distant peaks of the White Mountains. Push your pace. Carry your weight. Move with the pack.
Choose your distance: 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles, and complete in 10 hours to earn the coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf Medal. Toss on a 10, 20, or 35-lb weighted vest or ruck and unlock bonus finisher swag + serious bragging rights. The course will be extremely well marked with a fun post-trek party for everyone to enjoy!
Trek Day Information
UltraTrax Cannon Mountain kicks off at 7am on September 6, 2026. The starting line will be open from 7am to 10am with the post-trek party starting at 11am. It is not a race, but it is a timed event and walkers will have 10 hours to complete the course. Bibs can be mailed or picked up the morning of the event. **IF YOU REGISTER AFTER 8/15/26, BIBS MUST BE PICKED UP IN PERSON. A friend or relative can pick up a bib if you can't attend. Complimentary parking is available onsite. Finishers will receive a custom t-shirt and velcro patch. Level 3 and 4 participants will also qualify to earn our coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf medal. Refreshments and food will be available after the race.

The 21st Annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race and Fun Walk will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (The Fun Walk will start at 8:30am). In this exciting race on bridge-accessible Westport Island, you will run on a USATF-certified course through scenic pine and fir tree forests and over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay. The Damariscotta, Maine Lincoln County News has called the Westport Island Shore Run a "beautiful course," and a "very exciting run." Come run in Maine's best little 10K race! All proceeds after expenses will benefit the brave women and men of the Westport Island Volunteer Fire Department.

The 3.5 mile "Fun Walk" starts at the Old Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. The 10K Road Race begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Old Town Hall. Race packets may be picked up at the Old Town Hall beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race day. Race Day Registration also begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Old Town Hall. On site parking available at the Old Town Hall.
