It is our Family’s mission to raise awareness concerning this dangerous medical condition with the hope of preventing further lives from being lost to a potentially treatable condition. Event
OPSF 50|50 is a long standing Indiana tradition. This low key event in Owen-Putnam State Forest is provided by non-profit Indiana Trail Running Association (ITRA), and it's an opportunity for people to run a lesser known Indiana course (even though it's only an hour from Indianapolis!). Come join us! The OPSF 50|50 race is a 50- mile, 50k distance race beginning at 7:00 a.m., the 14-mile Run starts at 9:30 a.m., and the 10K distance starts at 10:00a.m. Weather: Spring in Indiana can provide interesting weather. 2018 brought a winter storm with sleet and snow! And then 2019 brought a 50° day and dry conditions! Please watch the weather and prepare accordingly! PLEASE NOTE: This race is a CUPLESS race. This means you must have the ability to carry 20 oz of water on your person at all times. No cups will be provided at aid stations.
Course
The trail races are set in the Owen-Putnam State Forest, beginning at Horse Campground, runners traverse a 14-mile course consisting of 90% single track and horse trails with a few sections of fire road. The course is a lollipop: Start/Finish to Aid A is the "stick" and a loop from Aid A through Aid B and back to Aid A is the delicious "pop". Aid A to the Start/Finish completes the lollipop. The 50-Mile runners will run the lollipop course counter clockwise three (3) times with a extra loop for your viewing pleasure while the 50k runners will run out the lollipop counter clockwise two "pops", and then an additional bonus short loop to return to the Start/Finish, 10K race is one loop trail run. See the Course Map for more details. Beautiful trails are single track trails with rolling hills, and challenging at some points. It may be considered the toughest trail race in Indiana! Come joint the fun!
