This event is all about our local Military and their families - they've all sacrificed so much for us. You don't have to run, you can walk, you can watch, you can cheer, you can sponsor and you can volunteer! However you decide to participate, you're going to have fun!
From the authentic Civil War Cannon used to start the race, to the "dog-tag" medals the real soldiers will place around your neck at the finish line, this unique event is "military" from start to finish. The WWII Army jeep as the pace car, the various military vehicles throughout the course, to the 100+ American flags along the course, the unique military themed tee shirts each participant will receive, the 'soldier statue' trophies, this event will be 100% military themed. We know you're in for a very special experience!
More than anything though, the Freedom Run presented by UnityPoint Heath is about our American Heroes in the Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Air Force, and Navy – joining together in the spirit of camaraderie and community. It's a chance for the troops to extend the military 'esprit de corps' and civilians to thank them for their support by participating.
People run, walk, or roll in the Freedom Run for many different reasons. Some are trying to break records or achieve personal bests. Some come in memory of parents or grandparents who spent their careers in the military, or of loved ones who lost their lives in the line of duty. Many are honoring sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, or mothers and fathers who are in the military today. Others come to salute America's injured soldiers who participate in the 5K and demonstrate for all the true spirit of "soldiering on". And hundreds of others will come to simply thank the men and women of the US Forces for all they do at home and abroad.
Thank you for supporting our Military, for serving in our Military, and for helping our event show our appreciation through your participation.
Respectfully,
Joe

Can you Duro it? RIDE-TO and RIDE-AT 8 trail systems in one day? 60 miles of pavement & 40 miles of singletrack. 100 miles total. The FORC'n Duro is the ride of all MTB rides in the QC and probably one of the hardest days you'll have on a bike. Riders will be tested mentally and physically as they make their way from Dorrance Forest Preserve in Port Byron, IL to Westbrook Park in Dewitt, IA - while hitting tons of singletrack trails in between (Dorrance, Illiniwek, Sylvan Island, Sunderbruch, Scott Community College, Lost Grove Lake, Scott County Park and Westbrook Park); 100 miles in total.
Not ready for the full 100 miles? Do the DIRT Duro and ride all trails in one day. 40+ miles of single track is a pretty respectable day!! Not in for the long haul? Join us anyway and ride what you want/can. A riders meeting will be held in the shelter at 6:50am where we will go over route cue sheets and other last-minute information. This ride is semi-supported. Bring tools, tubes, a pump, and any other gear you need to fix minor mechanical issues. A refuel station will be located at Healthy Habits a little past halfway and there are plenty of stores along the route to refill and refuel.
**This year is more self-sufficient so bring the necessary tools and spares for a full day ride, and have a friend on call for bailing out if you have serious mechanical or other problems (ideally someone riding the Dirto who is likely nearby).
-This year’s Route will include Scott Community College and a fun grass section around Lost Grove Lake on the way to Scott County Park. And exclude Stephens, Dog Park and Eldridge Rail Trail.
Rain date will be Saturday October 3rd. *** MUST BE A FORC MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE ***
