Event Description:
The Harvard Cross Country Team is collaborating with the The City of Harvard to host the first annual Hornet Hustle. A Lions Park 5K Fun Run & Cross Country Fundraiser. A community event to support our local cross country programs and celebrate the exciting expansion of the walking path at Lions Park!
On April 11th, 2026, Lions Park and The City of Harvard are partnering to extend the current walking path, creating even more space for fitness, family time, and outdoor fun. We will kick off the project during our 5K event with a special ceremony hosted in collaboration with The City of Harvard. This event will be for competitive runners, casual joggers, or those who want to walk for a cause. This event is for everyone!
Our Goal:
Proceeds will directly benefit our cross-country teams. Helping cover travel merchandise for our athletes, training equipment, and more.

1K Kids Run/Walk through scenic Lions Park
5K Fun Run/Walk through scenic Lions Park
Ceremonial Kickoff of the walking path expansion project
Family-friendly atmosphere with music, snacks, and community booths
A great way to support student-athletes and our growing park system
We want to come together as a community to support our runners and celebrate new opportunities for health and wellness in Lions Park!

Please complete your registration prior to arriving on site for pickup. All registration done online (no paper apps).
Race Course travels through city streets and rural areas, course surface is asphalt some hills
Awards to male & female overall winners for both 5K and 10K.
Finishers medals for everyone running 5K or 10K.
There will be NO awards/medals for the 2 mile walk.
Shirts are only guaranteed for those who preregister by May 19th. There will NOT be a second order of shirts this year.

19 Kilometers, Start on Flat Iron Rd. (Hwy 16) South of Hwy 173. Southwest on Flat Iron, Angling Rd to turn around at Mill Rd. Return same roads to finish line on Flat Iron Rd.
There will be signs at start line, course arrows, turnaround & finish line.
Be rider aware, ride right.
Please understand that the course is open to traffic so be careful particularly at intersections. Ride to the right side of the road.
We highly recommend using a rear red blinking light.

2026 - Road Bike Category – You can choose to race either TT Bike or Road Bike for all of the categories.Road Bike Definition - A road bike can possess drop or straight handlebars; no tri-bars, clip-on bars or Spinaci bars are allowed; no disc wheels or wheel covers; both front & rear wheels must have at least 12 spokes each; the maximum rim depth allowed is 90mm. Note: the spirit of this new Road Bike category is to encourage more participation in MATTS events by creating a more even playing field for racers who don’t have a TT bike. In general, if your bike would be eligible for a road race or a criterium, it would qualify for the Road Bike category. No “TT” Helmets.

DIRECTIONS to Milky Way Park, Harvard, IL: IL Hwy 14 to IL Hwy 173 (on the South Side of Harvard, Illinois) Take Hwy 173 West about 2 miles to the Milky Way Park, 300 Lawrence Rd, Harvard, IL 60033 Turn right (North) onto Lawrence Rd to parking area, East Shelter.
