The Iowa Trail Run Series is not about spending a bunch of cash for no reason. You'll get a great race with clear marking and course support, with basic timing, a cool custom bib, and a rotating race item such as a BUFF, socks, a stocking cap, coffee mug, and aluminum water bottle. Signing up for the entire series includes a series gift! Do you want a really soft and comfy tri-blend shirt with one of our Animal Icons? Great! Add one during your registration. We know some people have enough stuff in their closet and others may want to commemorate the day! Plenty of post-race food to refuel! Games!
THE CAPITAL PURSUIT
Capital Pursuit is Capital Strider's premier 10-mile race that takes participants through the best parts of the City of Des Moines. 2026 marks the event's 44th year of racing, make sure not to miss one of Des Moines' longest-running traditions!
The Capital Striders are a member of the Road Runners Club of America, which promotes the development of community-based running clubs and events in the pursuit of health and competition for all ages. RRCA provides support and race insurance for many of its 2,500 member organizations.

The Fillmore 5K is a 3.1 mile race at Fillmore Golf Course. The course will be the Saturday following the High School Cross Country meet and held on the same course.
This is a unique and challenging course, for locals some may have ran this course during high school cross country. Fall in Dubuque County is a great time for running and enjoying the outdoors.
This is a fundraiser for Dubuque County Conservation with all entry fees going as a donation to Dubuque County Conservation towards conservation and trail stewardship. The event will also be hosted by volunteers and friends of Dubuque County Conservation.
Race will be chip timed by Kauder Racing.
There will be 1 Water Station at approx. Mile 1.5 (Halfway point)
Finish Line will provide Water, Bananas, and Chocolate Milk
Special Awards for Top 3 Male and Female Overall.
Awards for Top Male and Female of each Age Division.
Runners will receive a super soft Tri-Blend T-shirt.
Parking along Fairway Rd. will be closest to the Start / Finish Line. The starting line on the map is signified by the triangle, and the finish line will be just South of that signified by the dot on the map. These are both near the tee box for the 3rd hole on the golf course.
WWY 5K (no one walks alone) is a family-friendly event complete with a 5K Walk/Run, a Kid's 1/2 mile run, coffee, food, face painting, and more! This event is hosted by Walk With You, a nonprofit organization that exists to walk with families as they experience the loss of a child. All money raised will be used to further our mission.
Prostate Cancer Awareness of Central Iowa is proud to present its fourth run/walk event. 100% of all proceeds stay right here in Iowa to help Iowans affected by prostate cancer. Since our inaugural event, we have donated back nearly $270,000 to the Iowa prostate cancer community. With your help, we can help even more Iowa men and their families. Thank you for being part of Team Blue Iowa!
Race Overview
Enjoy the beautiful Iowa River Greenbelt with this 13.1 mile paved loop beginning in Eldora, taking you along the River's Edge Trail to Steamboat Rock, and coming back to Eldora through the beautiful Pine Lake State Park. The race will start and end at Memorial Park on the east side of Eldora located near the Welcome Center. We will be donating the proceeds from the run to the continued progress on the River’s Edge Trail.
Be greeted by our small town charm along the route and at the start and finish line. Your fans will have numerous opportunities to cheer you on along the way, while you will be able to enjoy some beautiful views as well. Enjoy post race refreshments and a warm breakfast of pancakes and sausage served fresh after you finish in Memorial Park.
*NOTE: Those who register after 9/8/26 will not be guaranteed a race shirt and swag bag items. We have a limited amount of extra shirts ordered that will be available to late registrants on a first-come first-serve basis. You may email the race organizers for more information.
Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up options will be available on Friday evening and the morning of the race. Those registered will receive an email leading up to the race with details on the time and place of packet pick up.
Start Times
For those who choose to exclusively walk the half marathon course, you will begin at 7 am. All runners and run/walkers will begin at 8 am.
Parking
Parking will be available at the start/finish area for participants and spectators just west of the park in the Hardin County Fair Grounds. Park Street will be closed for the safety of all participating. You may enter the fair grounds from the west side on 11th Avenue.
Bathrooms
Restrooms are available at Memorial Park (park restrooms) and in the Welcome Center, both located right near the start/finish area. There will be numerous bathroom opportunities available along the route. Stay tuned for exact locations.
Water stations
We will have numerous water stops along the route manned by different volunteers and organizations. Stay tuned for a more detailed list of where they will be along the route.
Awards
All pre-registered finishers (runners and walkers) will receive custom locally crafted wooden finisher medals made right here in Eldora at the Backwoods Gallery. Top award winners will only be awarded to the overall top two male and female finishers, not separated by runners and walkers nor into specific age groups.
Post Race Refreshments
After the race you can hydrate and refuel with post race grab and go items such as water, gatorade, and chocolate milk, along with bananas and granola bars. Once you are cooled off, head over to the Memorial Park shelter for a warm breakfast of pancakes and sausage cooked fresh by our local Eldora Kiwanis Club. The meal is included in your registration. Spectators and the public are welcome to enjoy a warm meal as well with a freewill donation to the Kiwanis Club.
Online Registration Only. Pre-Registration closes Friday September 25th at 5pm. You can still register after that and up to 7:45am the morning of the race, but the day-of registration rate increases to $30. Join us for this fun race the morning of our 77th Annual Pancake Day celebration. The course begins on the North side of the Centerville square and passes by several town landmarks. The course comes full circle and ends on the North side of the square. You will find yourself just a few steps away from free pancakes and activities for all ages!
1st Place Runner (overall) in the 10k for both men & women will receive $150 in Chamber Bucks and the 1st Place Runner (overall) in the 5k for both men & women will receive $75 in Chamber Bucks.
The Wild Boar Challenge is an off road obstacle course designed to push participants through a series of challenges that will test both their speed and agility as they navigate through the course. This is THE LOCAL RACE, that is run by a local organization that will not only raise funds that stay in Iowa, but will also let the participants contribute to design of multiple obstacles. Contributors Breakfast Club is excited to host a fun and challenging event that attracts a wide range of participants from around the midwest.
Pete's Legacy Main Street Mile is a 1 Mile race from the intersection of Main & Harlan to the Mt Pleasant Square on Main Street. Registration is located on the East side of the Mt Pleasant Square, near the corner of Main & Monroe starting at 8:30am on 9/26/26.
On Sunday September 27, 2026, the city of Des Moines will host the Midwest Greater DSM Half Marathon Series (formerly the HyVee Half Marathon) again with a co-ed format. Each event will offer a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and our popular Kids One Mile Fun Run for our youngest competitors. Starting and finishing just steps from the Polk County Courthouse on Court Avenue in the heart of downtown Des Moines, Iowa!
Returning for 2026: Each Half Marathon, 10K, 5K event produced by Premier Event Management will again offer an exciting youth event in each market. The Kids One Mile Fun Run will start and finish from our main finish line structure making the Kids event something extra special on race morning. Children from ages 5 to 15 are encouraged to join mom and/or dad on race morning to begin a lifelong lifestyle change at Kids One Mile Fun Run!

The kid's dash is a fun, untimed dash for our kiddos ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specifically crafted medal for our kids' dash event! (If your child wants to run the kid's dash, and doesn't want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!)

We spend the morning honoring and remembering service members who have been killed or who have died as a result of a service connected illness. A shirt, medal and brunch are included in the registration fee.
parkrun is such a simple concept: turn up every Saturday and volunteer, walk, jog or run 5k.
