Learn to Swim lessons will be offered at the Tama/Toledo Pool. Lessons will run for 8 days and will be 45 minutes in length. Lessons will run even during cool temperatures and light rain. The fee for each session is $45 and participants may sign up for more than one session if desired. Pool malfunctions may require a cancellation. Any cancellations will be announced on KIX (101.1 FM) radio between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m or posted at www.facebook.com/TamaToledoAquaticCenter.

Session 1: June 29th - July 8th - 9am and 10am sessions (Level 6 only hosted at 9 am class time.)

The Tama-Toledo Aquatic Pool Board is committed to offering a swim program that provides opportunities for youth to learn basic swimming skills in a group environment. Every effort is made to ensure the safety of all participants during the lessons. Therefore, instructors and students must follow rules pertaining to safety and instruction.
Normally, students in levels 1- 3 will not be allowed to dive off the board during free time due to safety concerns. Instructors may be in the water with students most of the time (lower levels especially) but must also be out of the water to evaluate strokes from the deck (upper levels).
The cities of Tama and Toledo employs certified Water Safety Instructors as much as possible; younger instructors are certified Water Safety Aides who can often motivate and work closely with the younger students. Games may be used to encourage practice of skills and new techniques. Free time at the end of each class is given to allow children a recreational swim; instructors are responsible for their classes until the end of the period. Testing, grading and evaluations are always approved by the Site Director.

The Women of the ELCA Triennial Gathering takes place every three years and gathers 1000 women leaders, participants, and newcomers for four days of worship, inspiring speakers, workshops, service projects, and more! Time to break out the green and come join us for the annual ShamRock N Run 5k race!! Race date is Saturday, August 1st, 2026. Our event is held during the Iowa Irish Fest in downtown Waterloo, Iowa--the midwest's BEST Irish festival! Online registration ends: Early packet pickup / walk-up registration will be: at the Iowa Irish Fest on Friday, August 1st from 4:00pm-7:00pm, at Main Gate Entrance 1 in downtown Waterloo. Race day packet pickup and walk-up registration begins at 7:30am Saturday morning and the race begins at 9am!
Your weekend pass into the Irish Fest is NOT included in your 5k registration. For those age 16 and older, click the Add-On option to add a Fest pass for only $25! They are $35 at the gate so this is an excellent savings! You will pick up your Fest wristband pass at race packet pickup times (see above). Age 15 and under gain free entrance to the Fest so no ticket is required for them. Each registrant will receive a T-shirt, snacks, water, and free beer with their entry. Wear your best Irish-themed gear, bring the whole family, and come join us for a fun-filled race and weekend!

Start - Finish is located at the Atkins City Park Pavilion on the west side of the park. The race start time is 7:30 AM. The course will be on the streets & will be chip timed! Packets can be picked up before the race at the Atkins City Park Pavilion on the west side of the park starting at 7:00AM.
AWARDS: Medals will be given to the top 3 places in each division and trophies to overall male & female runners!
