The Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation was established to honor the life of Ann Rehan Goebel, MD, a Sioux City pediatrician who passed away from a brave battle with cancer on February 20, 2023.

Ann loved being a doctor and helping people – and she did it with her own brand of care and personality. She wove a deeply human element into her medical practice, creating unforgettable connections with her patients and colleagues.

When Ann passed away from cancer in 2023, her family and friends felt like her life’s work wasn’t done yet. That’s how the Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation was formed. Our annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship is inspired by Ann’s passion for the field and sharing her gifts with others. By helping students realize these similar aspirations, we will keep Ann’s spirit alive.

This 5K helps support the ARG Foundation mission locally.

  • Relay Iowa is the World's Longest Relay Run! Teams of up to 12 participants run 339 miles to cross Iowa over a long weekend. You build your own team and then work together to break down the distance into segments of your choosing. You control the order and distance of runners and can change your plan at any time. Any level runner can participate as long as your overall team pace is 10.5 minutes/mile or less, allowing your team to finish in the allotted time.

One runner at a time from each team will advance day and night beginning in Sioux City on Friday and ending in Dubuque on Sunday. It is a relay, not a race, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie and fun while testing your determination. Contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions or need help getting started.

Our non-profit relay raises money for Restoring Hope International, an orphanage in South Africa, as well as various charities in towns along the route and throughout Iowa. While fundraising is not required, we challenge teams to raise at least $339 to enter our Club 339 fundraising competition. Accept the challenge and ask your family and friends to support your epic 339 mile run across Iowa!

Relay Iowa has become a metaphor for a life well lived. It is not a race to the finish, but an extended relay of individuals journeying closely together, sustaining each other as they stretch the limits of their physical endurance, test their mental toughness and draw upon their emotional well in a place beyond their comfort zones, for the sole purpose of improving the life of another human being.
