Cherokee Recreation and Parks will host the 3rd Annual Live Like Laken 5K Run/Walk on October 24, 2026, at Hobgood Park in Woodstock, GA. The purpose of this 5K is to raise money for The Laken Hope
Foundation, Inc., which supports existing organizations that promote safety awareness for women, aid, and tuition assistance for nursing students and children’s healthcare. These were all causes that Laken felt strongly about, and she held near and dear to her heart. Additional information regarding the specific foundations supported and money raised can be found at https://lakenhopefoundation.com/
Laken Riley was a student at Augusta University after attending UGA, where she was studying to become a nurse. Laken’s untimely death was avoidable and tragic. Our ultimate goal is to promote safety awareness and prepare women if they are ever in danger. We will be handing out safety products and providing information centered around programs that champion safety awareness. Thank you, everyone, for your continued love and support. Together we can all Keep Hope Alive!
The Live Like Laken 5K is a certified race for The Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.

Join us for our 1st annual Legacy 5K in honor of the late Pastor Frederick T. Anderson. Pastor Anderson is the founding pastor of Covenant Christian Ministries and a leader in Marietta for over 30
years. He and his wife ran a private school, Covenant Christian Ministries Academy, in Marietta for 25 years, which matriculated numerous students who were not only native to Georgia but came from various parts of the world.
Since 2016 the church has been meeting at various locations Cobb Galleria, McEachern Auditorium, The Mansour Center, but we settled at Smitha Middle School in 2019. It was Pastor Anderson's goal to build a permanent home for Covenant Christian Ministries, and all proceeds from the 5K will go toward making that vision a reality. The 5K course is a look back at our church history and the various places we called home in Marietta.
Pastor Anderson transitioned to his heavenly home on January 19, 2025. This race honors Pastor Frederick T. Anderson and celebrates the church that he founded. Join his family, friends, and church family as we keep his memory alive and continue the legacy that he started.

The Thriller Lake Endurance Run is a 12, 6, and 3 hour timed loop event on the 2.2 mile loop around Miller Lake at Little Mulberry Park in Gwinnett County, GA. It's a Halloween party combined with a
race, featuring runners in costume, food, and music.
For 2025, Classic Running and Mount To Coast are providing overall winners with their choice of shoes!
The Trick or Treat Fun Run is for kids and adults of all ages looking for a trick or treat experience in a fun, safe, and positive community setting. Participants will complete one loop of the Miller Lake paved 2.2 mile trail with plenty of opportunities to experience the magic of Halloween. Costumes are highly encouraged, practically required! I mean, we'll be wearing ours… We will have several trick or treat stations along the course stationed with costumed volunteers and most importantly, candy! And don’t worry, you don’t have to run, but as night falls, things may only get stranger…. Just kidding… Or am I?
Seriously though, the Fun Run will start at 630PM, just as the sun starts to set, aka dusk. Most walkers can complete this loop easily under an hour and should be done before full dark (7:30PM). We still encourage guests to bring a flashlight, headlamp, old-timey oil lantern, or a lit torch if you’re concerned about the dark. Ok, maybe not a real torch, but you get the point. Strollers are allowed but we will have to discourage any type of bicycles, scooters, or motorized devices unless medically necessary as there will be other runners on the course as well as the general public. Please remember to always be aware of others using the trail and keep to the right when others need to pass.
The fun run will not be timed. Instead, every participant will get a glow-in-the-dark wrist band when you check in, so that our volunteers will know who is participating in the event. We’ll also have a special treat bag available for the kids, or they can bring their own!
Did we mention costumes? Oh yeah, it wouldn’t be a Halloween event without a costume contest! The top two best costumes (as judged by TEAM SUMMIT(and we know our stuff when it comes to costumes)) will get acknowledged AND the overall BEST costume will receive tickets to a Falcons game, courtesy of our friends with the Falcons organization.
Spectators and family are allowed in the start/finish area but everyone on the course must be registered for the event.
PERC Coffee will be brewed on site for all participants, spectators, and crew!

Each summer, Camp Twin Lakes serves thousands of children and teens from across the country during weeklong overnight camping programs. Each week, Camp serves a different unique diagnosis or life challenge at our three medically-supported campuses located in Winder and Rutledge, GA.
