Join us for the 1st Annual Light the Way 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run at twilight at Veterans Park in Canton! As the sun sets and the course begins to glow, runners and walkers of all ages are invited to come together to 'light the way" for children who need our support. Participants can choose between a timed 5K race or a family-friendly 1-mile fun run, making this event perfect for competitive runners, casual joggers, walkers, and families alike.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Anna Crawford Children's Center, which provides critical services for OUR children and families in OUR community who have been affected by abuse and violence.
To be guaranteed an event t-shirt, make sure to register by April 1st to be guaranteed your shirt size of choice. Online registration will be open until 5 minutes before each race and in-person race day registration will be available as well.
Bring your friends, family, and running buddies for an unforgettable evening of fitness, community, and purpose. Every step helps light the way for children in need!

Cherokee County will welcome first responders from across the country to participate in the 42nd Annual Georgia Police and Fire Games, with the 5K taking place at Hobgood Park in Woodstock, GA on June 13, 2026.
The 5K is open to ALL! Civilians, active and retired law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and other public safety professionals in the U.S. This is a family friendly event, and we hope you bring your families to cheer you on.

Cherokee Recreation and Parks will host the 3rd Annual Live Like Laken 5K Run/Walk on October 24, 2026, at Hobgood Park in Woodstock, GA. The purpose of this 5K is to raise money for The Laken Hope Foundation, Inc., which supports existing organizations that promote safety awareness for women, aid, and tuition assistance for nursing students and children’s healthcare. These were all causes that Laken felt strongly about, and she held near and dear to her heart. Laken Riley was a student at Augusta University after attending UGA, where she was studying to become a nurse. Laken’s untimely death was avoidable and tragic. Our ultimate goal is to promote safety awareness and prepare women if they are ever in danger. We will be handing out safety products and providing information centered around programs that champion safety awareness. Thank you, everyone, for your continued love and support. The Live Like Laken 5K is a certified race for The Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race.
