No Dog Policy for Our 5K Races
We love dogs and understand they are part of the family, but unfortunately, we cannot permit them to participate in our 5K races. This policy is in place because our event insurance does not cover the participation of dogs, and we must prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants, both human and canine.
Key Points of the Policy:
No Dogs Allowed on the Course: For safety and liability reasons, dogs are not permitted to accompany runners or walkers during the race.
Spectator Pets: Well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome to spectate along the sidelines, provided they remain under control and do not enter the race course.
Service Animals: Registered service animals are, of course, an exception to this rule, as they are covered under legal protections.
Alternative Participation Options: If you’re looking for a dog-friendly race experience, please let us know, and we can share recommendations for other events in the area that welcome canine companions.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable race for everyone involved!

Let’s run with purpose and grow as one.

Finisher's Medals will be Provided
First-Gen 5k Shirt's Provided to All Participants
Age Divisions: 10-19 M/F, 20-29 M/F, 30-39 M/F, 40-49 M/F, 50+ M/F (Awards given to Top Finisher in each Division)
Drinks provided Before, During, and After Race
The Genesis Location is still TBA!The race is standard backyard, complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour, for as long as you can. The last runner standing wins. Why 4.167 mile loops? Finishing 1 lap per hour for 24 hours gets you 100 miles. Each loop must be started at the top of the hour and no aid or pacing can be provided to runners while on course. In between loops, runners are welcome to have a crew and get any support they need. MORE details coming soon! Rules - Runners must be standing in the starting corral when the next loop starts or else they will not be able to continue.- Runners will also not continue if they choose not to themselves.- There will be no late starts once the bell is rung.- Loops will continue until only one runner remains, and at that point, once that person completes a loop on their own, that runner is the winner.- All other runners are officially a DNF. However, we will capture total distance covered for each participant as a part of the results. It is important
to note there MUST be one person to finish a loop in the hour given. For example: If two runners are left and they both finish a loop in the time given and then one runner drops, the other runner still must complete another loop in the time given. If that last runner does not finish the last loop in the hour given, he will have “DNF” and there will be no finishers.- A bell is rung to signal the start of each loop, on the hour!- Once the bell is rung, runners may not visit their crew, their tent, their vehicle or receive aid from anyone.- Runners must stay on the course once the bell is rung.- The only reason for leaving the course once the bell is rung is to use the porta-potty.- Once you finish your loop you may choose to do what you want, but must be back in the starting corral before the bell rings.- Runners will need to be prepared to provide their own aid on course or via their own crew when back at the start/finish area.- Crews are permitted, but not required. Crews may leave and come
back as needed. - There will be a space next to the start and finish line to set up a chair, cooler, and other small personal items.- Runners will also be allowed to set up a tent in the designated area adjacent to the start/finish area.- Any runner that DNF’s must immediately vacate their spot close to the finish line to allow surviving runners to move closer. Tents can remain up for the duration of the event and DNF runners are welcome to continue hanging out, spectating, cheering, crewing, partying as we wait until one runner remains. Aid Station & Food We will be making some food and have some fluids during the race but the large amounts of food we prepare will be for after you finish! Once you are out of the race, let us know what you want from the food options and we will grill it or prepare it for you! Welcome to the 8-Hours of Berm
Right in the heart of Florida in the beautiful and historic Ross Prairie. You'll run through longleaf pine forests, as well as oak hammocks and dry prairies while running through the infamous Berm Loop section of the Skunk Ape 100 Mile Endurance Run course. This conservation land was acquired in 1995 through the Conservation and Recreation Lands with funds from the Preservation 2000 Act. No DNFs. No cutoffs. Just you, the course, and a chance to go further than ever before. You won’t need a crew. You won’t need a pacer. You will need every ounce of grit you’ve got.
The Deets
Date: August 15th, 2026Where: Ross Prairie TrailheadAddress: 10660 SW State Rd 200, Dunnellon, FL 34432Start time: 8:30 am8-Hour Timed EventLoop Distance: 6.5 MilesElevation Gain: +135'Bib Pick-Up: August 15th, opens at 6am.
The Course
It's called the BERM for a reason! Florida’s fire lines (or berms) are often cut through flatwoods or scrubland, where the soil is light and sandy. This creates fantastic forest roads for us to enjoy. It's like going to the beach... only in the middle of a forest! These Berms are cleared for visibility, which means little to no tree canopy. You'll get it all - From deep sand to not as deep sand, overgrown forest roads, exposed stretches, and some awesome real trails. The Berm is challenging both mentally and physically. It's a mix of natural resistance training and wildland adventure.Course Map: https://caltopo.com/m/BUNC805
Aid Stations and Self-Crewing
We are really excited to be able to host this event at the Ross Prairie Trailhead because they are set up for this and have a bathhouse on site! We don’t want this to be a “come run your race and leave” sort of event and we’ll have everything you need to stay and enjoy the day! You'll be able to set up all your 10x10 tents to self-crew and do your self-aid if you desire. You'll get the map of where all of that will be located in race emails! Be courteous to other park users, pedestrians, bike riders, campers, and drivers. They take priority over you.
Rucking Division Rules
Carry the weight, earn a patch!Want an extra challenge? Ruck it and carry your pack every step of the way. Ruck weight checks will be conducted at check-inMinimum Weight:Women: 20 lbs dryMen under 150 lbs: 20 lbs dryMen 150 lbs and over: 30 lbs dry(Dry = no food, water, or worn gear. At each checkpoint there will be water and Powerade available. Once you are given the go ahead to proceed you should continue on your course. At times there will be yellow 'sausage' shaped buoys that will indicate the direction of the course and are in place to separate you from other swimmers who may be starting a shorter race. VOLUNTEERS
This event can not take place without the continual support of volunteers. If you or a family member wish to volunteer to help at the Start and Checkpoint docks on race day or with kayak and safety support then please email [email protected] to signup for one of the volunteer positions.
SAFETY BOATS AND KAYAKS

ORANGE TRIANGULAR BUOYS (~6 feet tall pyramids) indicate an island at which swimmers will be making a turn,
ORANGE ROUND BUOYS (most are 5 feet tall, some at the end of the route are 8 feet tall) indicate a path for the swimmer, do not turn at these, they are simply for guidance,
YELLOW SAUSAGE BUOYS (15 feet long by 18 inches high) indicate a direction for swimmers to follow leading into a Dingles Island, Cockroach Island, and out of the checkpoint with 2.75k to go.

This is a rugged trail challenge. However, there will be aid provided on the course. There will also be one drop bag zone for runners who do not have crew support. Please plan accordingly and bring the gear and fuel you need to manage a true wilderness effort. As with most point-to-point events, transportation is the responsibility of each runner. Please coordinate your own drop-off and/or pick-up arrangements. However, if there is enough interest, we will look into getting a van to shuttle uncrewed runners before the race, from the finish line to the start of the race. Every runner is required to download the course GPX to their phone and/or watch and must carry a phone with them during the race. This is a true, "old school" event and there aren't course markers - runners will be following the orange blazes on the Florida Trail. If you're itching for a challenge...The Itch is for you!

** This is a rain or shine event. Race continues in the rain. If there is lightning in the area, race could delay or postpone until it is safe to resume. Florida weather is unpredictable and often changes. Race decisions are made closer to start time of each race. If any updates are made, all participants would be emailed through RunSignup and race would post details on their Facebook/Instagram. Routes are only available for RUN DAYTONA during certain times of the weekend. If inclement weather delays a start time past the allowed track time available, the race will be canceled and moved to the next available track time for a race.
Lightning Plan and Procedure: ALL guests must seek shelter or wait in their vehicles if inclement weather is within 15 miles.
Race Cancelation Procedure: If a race needs to cancel, it would push to the next available RUN DAYTONA race time. For Example, if the Sat Evening 5K is canceled, all participants are automatically placed into the Sunday AM 5K. Participants could also choose to take their medal and become virtual finishers. There are no refunds given for any race.
Time Requirements for each race:
5K: 75mins
