General Description:
Keystone Heights, Florida, located in the southwest corner of Clay County, once again prepares for its Independence Day Celebration which includes the Freedom 5k, presented by the Jordan Cooper Memorial Scholarship Fund. Other planned activities for the day include a parade, arts and crafts and food vendors.
Keystone Heights is a small town where family values still abound. Its landscape includes numerous lakes, parks and recreation areas as well as a quaint downtown area where residents shop. The Keystone residents value their community and are active in all areas including schools, sports, churches, library and local events. It's a place for neighbors to meet neighbors, and a town where people from around the world are welcomed as well. Keystone Heights is a "commuters town" since many of the residents commute daily to work within a 50-mile radius surrounding the city. The town sits between two main Florida cities, Gainesville to the Southwest and Jacksonville to the Northeast.
Generations of Floridians have raised their children here as well as the many folks who moved here after discovering Clay County's community nestled in beautiful Northeast Florida. The communities are examples of hometown America. We welcome you to join us for a small town celebration in honor of our county and nation, and experience a true local tradition.

About this Race
Saturday, October 24th
5K at 8 AM • Mile at 9 AM
In 2020, Tristan Klepzig was a Senior at UNF, nearing graduation in the Mechanical Engineering program. Tragically, he passed away following a fatal accident while he was out running one evening in late October. Tristan had a wide circle of friends and family and was loved by many.
Instead of birthday cake each year, Tristan’s celebratory treat of choice was always his mother’s fresh and well-known cinnamon rolls. Since his passing, the family has continued the tradition of remembering Tristan on his birthday in July and also during the month of October by gathering around a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls.
In October of 2024, the Klepzigs kicked off an Instagram page “Run4therolls” to remember Tristan with running, cinnamon rolls, and friendly competition – all individually and remotely. That page gathered attention from many in 27 states and 8 countries. Collectively, over 4,600 miles were recorded.
About Our Title Sponsor
Auld & White Constructors is a very community-oriented construction firm headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. AWC provides new construction and renovation services for commercial, healthcare and public sector clients throughout NE Florida. Tristan’s father, Jim Klepzig, is part of the AWC family. Inspired by the Run 4 the Rolls page, AWC took action by launching this inaugural 5k run with the Klepzig family .
