Tappen Brook 5k
Get ready to discover one of Connecticut’s newest hidden trail gems at the 3rd Annual Tappen Brook 5K, presented by The Bridgewater Land Trust and the Bridgewater Recreation Commission. Tucked away in the scenic charm of Bridgewater, CT, this fresh, forested 5K promises runners an invigorating experience through the brand-new trails of Bridgewater Town Park—officially opened just last fall. Whether you're chasing a personal record or checking off another town on your Complete Your CT 5K Town Challenge, this event is a can’t-miss addition to Connecticut’s growing trail race scene.
Course Description
The course winds its way through the beautiful woodlands of Bridgewater Town Park, a recently developed trail network that offers the perfect balance of nature and challenge. As runners navigate gently rolling hills and meandering paths, they'll enjoy views of serene woodlands and the nearby shimmering waters of Lake Lillinonah. The terrain is a mix of packed dirt and natural trails—ideal for both seasoned trail runners and 5K newcomers seeking a taste of off-road adventure. With subtle elevation changes and wide paths, the route is beginner-friendly while still offering enough variety to keep experienced runners on their toes.
Runner Experience
Expect a warm, small-town vibe with big community spirit. All participants will receive a special race-day participation gift, and the top finishers will be awarded prizes for their efforts. It’s a perfect blend of friendly competition and fun. Whether you’re a local or traveling from across the state, you’ll feel the welcoming energy that defines Bridgewater. Families, friends, and spectators are encouraged to cheer along the course and celebrate at the park post-race.
