There may be follow vehicles if volunteered; they need to coordinate with organizer and fill out the MVR at the USAC.org site (at least 10 days prior) to be allowed under insurance, riders should always bring pump and spare. Feed zone (bottle hand-ups) east of Fwy in San Ardo, park only where indicated. Neutral feed available, will include Bottle Grab units. After finishing, check out with the officials after the line and get off the road as soon as possible.
Do not outrage the residents by using other than the school bathrooms and portable toilets. We had complaints at the Copper Valley race in May, and as a result, are having potential difficulty with the permitting agency for next year.
There is other traffic on the roadway including large farm vehicles; always be aware of it and be prepared to slow and/or maneuver; warn riders behind you of hazards.

Last One Standing Format Participants will run a 4.18 mile loop every hour until only one person is standing. You have one hour to finish the loop once it has started. If you finish a loop within the hour, you may start the next hour’s loop provided you are in the start corral when the next hour starts. If you do not finish within the hour, you are out of the race and considered a DNF. Rules You may have a small crew of 2 people and set up at the race starting area, aka a pit stop area. We will give you a 3 minute, 2 minute, and 1-minute warning to get lined up for the next loop via whistle. 3 whistle blows for 3 min, 2 whistle blows for 2 min, 1 whistle blow for 1 min. Failure to line up in the starting corral will result in disqualification of the runner. Participants must start a new loop at the sounding of the bell starting the loop. Runners are responsible for carrying their aid on course like, water & snacks. No aid stations will be on course. No artificial aids (including trekking poles) are allowed. No non-competitor pacers allowed. You may, as participants run / pace with each other. Once you are back to the start and assuming you have finished within the hour, you may use the bathroom, eat, drink, sleep, ponder the next loop, etc., but you MUST be back in the start corral at the beginning of the hour to continue into the next hour’s loop. Runners will continue until ONE runner completes a FINAL lap. (i.e. If there are two runners left and one does not complete the loop within hr or start the loop, then the one that completed the loop will be declared the winner). The time needed to complete the loop does not matter, only that the runner be back at the start before the hour expires. Upon successful completion of the loop, all runners are considered “tied”. Speed does not matter in this event. Once in the starting
corral, no aid allowed, please come into the starting corral ready to run with what you have, no handing off anything to your crew members while you are in the starting corral. Big Sur River Run is a benefit race for two important Big Sur community organizations, Big Sur Health Center and Big Sur Fire. There are two races, a 10k and 5k. Both courses are all flat, black-top road loops alongside Big Sur River, through Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park's redwood and oak grove campgrounds. The 10k is a certified course. The 5k is a Family Fun Run or Walk. No Bicycles, dogs, strollers, skates, wagons, or other wheeled conveyances (other than wheelchairs) are permitted. Prizes for 10K Race winners and top finishers.
Since 1981 two of Big Sur’s most vital institutions have been supported by the generosity of those who love to run. Most who visit Big Sur revel in the remoteness without taking in the impact it has on emergency services. The local Volunteer Fire Department, Big Sur Fire, and the Big Sur Health Center both rely on donations to provide support for visitors and residents alike. The run’s beneficiaries, Big Sur Fire and the Big Sur Health Center, have never done more to serve and support our community than in recent years. These critical emergency services need our support more than ever and we encourage you to donate to each organization directly. To date over 30,000 runners have joined the cause, supporting these institutions, and basking in the beauty of Big Sur. Will you join us this year?

Laguna Seca Recreation Area w/ WeatherTech Raceway has a campground that you can use for the weekend festivities: Camping w/ WeatherTech Raceway @ Laguna Seca Race Information Fort Ord was a U.S. Army post on Monterey Bay in California. It was established in 1917 as a maneuver area and field artillery target range and was closed in September 1994. Fort Ord was one of the most attractive locations of any U.S. Army post, because of its proximity to the beach
and California weather. The 7th Infantry Division (Light) was its main resident for many years. When Fort Ord was converted to civilian use, space was set aside for the first nature reserve in the United States created for conservation of an insect, the endangered species Smith’s blue butterfly. While much of the old military buildings and infrastructure remain abandoned, many structures have been torn down for anticipated development. California State University Monterey Bay and Fort Ord Dunes State Park, along with some subdivisions, the Veterans Transition Center, a strip mall, military facilities and a nature preserve occupy the area today. On April 20, 2012, President Obama signed a proclamation designating a 14,651-acre portion of the former post as the Fort Ord National Monument.Inside Trail Racing is authorized to use the trails on Fort Ord National Monument under a Special Recreation Permit issued by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).Location: Ford Ord National MonumentSaturday

Laguna Seca Recreation Area w/ WeatherTech Raceway has a campground that you can use for the weekend festivities: Camping w/ WeatherTech Raceway @ Laguna Seca Race Description Starting in 2024, the Monterey Ultra 50M had a great inaugural year, so keep rolling it back! Monterey Bay Area locals designed this beautiful course to highlight Fort Ord National Monument. You’ll run on just about every type of trail there is during this 50-mile tour. From wide fire
road, smooth and twisting single-track, deep sand and rocky, rooty climbs you certainly won’t get bored. The course consists of a 35-mile loop and a 15-mile loop, with plenty of aid stations (and views) along the way. Make sure to read the “Course Information” tab for course details, headlamp/drop bag/pacer details and all the other nitty gritty.Fort Ord was a U.S. Army post on Monterey Bay in California. It was established in 1917 as a maneuver area and field artillery target range and was closed in September 1994. Fort Ord was one of the most attractive locations of any U.S. Army post, because of its proximity to the beach and California weather. The 7th Infantry Division (Light) was its main resident for many years. When Fort Ord was converted to civilian use, space was set aside for the first nature reserve in the United States created for conservation of an insect, the endangered species Smith’s blue butterfly. While much of the old military buildings and infrastructure remain
abandoned, many structures have been torn down for anticipated development. California State University Monterey Bay and Fort Ord Dunes State Park, along with some subdivisions, the Veterans Transition Center, a strip mall, military facilities and a nature preserve occupy the area today. On April 20, 2012, President Obama signed a proclamation designating a 14,651-acre portion of the former post as the Fort Ord National Monument.Inside Trail Racing is authorized to use the trails on Fort Ord National Monument under a Special Recreation Permit issued by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). 50/50 Challenge 50/50 Challenge Are you interested in participating in our annual 50/50 Challenge (Monterey Ultra 50 Miler and Marin Ultra Challenge 50 Miler)?
