DISCRIPTION
Fleet Feet Chico is pleased to offer two trail races in our beautiful Upper Bidwell Park. The two races will start on the south side of the park down Annies Trail for a fun adventure on the single-track trails. Toss in a creek crossing and a nice finish through Yahi and the golf course, you’re sure to enjoy your run!
The two races include a half marathon and a 4-mile an hour backyard endurance challenge!
The Half Marathon will start at 8:10am along the rock wall off Centennial/South Rim trail head. This race will be a challenging climb with 1600 ft of gain in the first half. Enjoy a party at the top of 10-mile house at Aid station #1 and enjoy an all downhill second half of the race!
4-mile endurance race will start at 8:00am. Runners will run a 4-mile loop. If you complete the loop in under 60 mins you will go back in the shoot for loop #2. At the top of each hour a new round will start. This will continue for 8 hours! Every other lap we will change the direction of the loop! If there is more than one person going into the final hour the run will become a foot race to the finish! If you complete all 8 loops, you will have run approximately 32 Miles! Do you have what it takes? Do one loop, 3 loops or all 8! It’s sure to be a good time for the runners and the spectators!
After the race head up to Bidwell Golf Course Bar and grill for some delicious food and drinks! All runners get a breakfast burrito with your race registration plus and additional 15% off any other food or drink.
By supporting this race, you are supporting two great causes!
Chico Velo Trailworks. Launched in 2014, Chico Velo’s Trailworks supports and manages the creation and maintenance of sustainable and enjoyable trails in our region. They have established a strong partnership with the City of Chico to maintain the trails in Upper Bidwell Park. Trailworks have done additional work in the Oroville area and beyond. They are actively seeking new partnerships and opportunities within our community to promote sustainable trail design. Trailworks volunteers put in hundreds of hours every year improving trails for all users to enjoy. To see their latest project check out our Colby Mountain Recreation Project. A portion of your race entry will go to this great local stewardship as they continue their work to help keep our local trails accessible for us all! If you would like more information on this program or would like to sign up for a park cleanup day, click the link below.
Chico Velo Trailworks - CHICO VELO
In addition to supporting Chico Velo Trailworks we are also donating a portion of the race proceeds to local fire academy cadets. Many of the current class are volunteer firefighters who have worked and volunteered in our community and are continuing their education to be able to make a lifelong career the Fire industry. With a fire prone environment that we live in throughout Butte County we rely on our local fire personnel, staff and volunteers to keep our community safe! Cadets will be volunteering on the racecourse to help ensure the safety of all our participants. Cadets can be seen on our racecourse supporting our race as emergency EMTs and safety aids at the creek crossings. SPECTATING
We would love to see everyone come out to support our local athletes in this new trail race! Because the trail is a single track there are limited locations that you can safely watch your favorite runners without interrupting the flow of the race. Here we have provided a few locations where you can safely watch your runners and help cheer them on to the finish.
Start/Finish area- in the meadow of the finish/ South Rim area. At this location you will not only see the runners start on the run, but this is also the location of the finish. For the 4-Mile runners this will also serve as the location where they will hold until the start of the next loop.
Green Gate Parking Lot – This location will serve at Aid Station one for the half marathoners and will also be a great spot to cheer on your runners as they will have just climbed the final hill of their run…. All downhill from here! Parking will be very limited. If you plan to cheer for your runners at this location, carpooling is highly recommended!
Bear Hole parking lot- This location is about one and a half miles past the Horseshoe Lake gate on Upper Park Rd. You will need to walk or bike to this location as the road will be closed to cars for the day. The Parking lot serves as aid station 3 for the half marathon as well as aid station 1 for the 4-mile runners. Runners will be coming in and out of this location from both directions, so this will be a fun and high energy place to spectate.
VOLUNTEERING
If you are interested in volunteering at the race, please check out all the available shifts! We cannot put on this event without great volunteers!

About
The 2027 Outlands Endurance Races take place April 17th and 18th out of Peninsula Campground in Pilot Hill, California. What started as a single-day trail running event has expanded into a full weekend of endurance racing across two disciplines trail running and mountain bike riding, built on the same remote singletrack along Folsom Lake that has defined Outlands from the start.Saturday brings the trail runs, 25K, 50K, and 50 mile distances on rugged lakeshore singletrack with steady climbing, quiet terrain, and wide open views that few races ever reach. The 25K and 50K are strong entry points for runners new to trail or ultramarathon distances, while the 50 mile adds more time on feet and harder sections for those looking for a bigger day. All trail run distances register through UltraSignup.Sunday adds the Outlands 50K Mountain Bike Race, starting at Magnolia Ranch and finishing at Peninsula Campground after 50 kilometers through Salmon Falls Ranch and the surrounding terrain. Participants park at the finish line, shuttles will take riders out to the start at Magnolia Ranch before the race begins. Aid stations are located at Cronin Ranch (mile 8), Salmon Ranch 1 (mile 16), and Salmon Ranch 2 (mile 21). To register only for the ride, please head here: BikeReg.The Space Bunny Challenge is open to anyone who runs on Saturday and rides on Sunday. It doesn't matter which trail distance you choose, finish any of the three runs and complete the Sunday MTB race and you'll take home a unique plaque and jersey. Where:
Beautiful Sparks Marina located at 300 Howard Drive, Sparks, Nevada 89434. The marina is minutes from the Reno Tahoe Airport and is adjacent to several hotels and casinos. Once a quarry, Sparks Marina now is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving. It has a large dog park, sandy beaches, volleyball courts, a fishing pier, veterans memorial, kids playground, coffee shop and, most importantly, a comfortable and scenic walking path around the marina. The marina is the centerpiece of the Biggest Little Ultra and provides a pleasant backdrop for your race.

The 48 hour, 100 mile and 50 mile races end Sunday, October 11, at 9:00 a.m. YES no cutoff (except 9:00 a.m. Sunday) so plenty of time to achieve your goal!Relay Option! Award categories for all female teams, all male teams, mixed gender ("coed") teams, and all runners over 55 years of age. So, here is a chance to gather folks from your organization, neighborhood, or family to share miles, laughter, and achievement! We want as many people as possible to get moving and exercising. All ability levels are welcome, so don't worry if your team members are not all speedsters. Show up as a team, create a name, and go for it!
Why:
The Biggest Little Ultra is your chance to set a P.R. at your chosen distance. It is paved and lighted so the course loop is safe and visible. Tired of stressing about aid station cutoffs? This race is the solution. Maybe you just want to cruise with friends and enjoy a glorious venue. Or, let's find out how far you can go in 3, 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours. In addition, we provide great swag and we will make a contribution to a very worthy cause (Liberty Dogs).
Course:
The race course is just under a 2 mile loop around beautiful Sparks Marina. Total elevation gain is 29 feet. The course is paved and lighted so no gators or headlamps are required. Two real restrooms are along the course and porta potties will be near the start line. We will not count partial laps. So, know your split time toward the end of your race and do not go out if you see you cannot finish the lap before your race ends. 50 mile runners will run 26 loops and the 100 mile runners will do 52 loops.
Aid Stations
We will have a fully stocked aid station at the start/finish line providing the usual aid station fare (including Hammer Products) 24 hours per day and real meals, (Including Vegan Options) during normal breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. Pacers and Timing
One pacer at a time is allowed during the entire event. No bikes, please.Your time and distance for each completed lap will be recorded automatically using an electronic chip based timing system. You will be issued a timing transponder/chip. It is the runner's responsibility to have the chip on their person at all times! Laps done without a chip are not counted by the timing system. There are no exceptions! A secondary timing system will be placed halfway around the track to verify laps completed. Up-to-date lap totals will be displayed instantaneously when runners cross the start line. Results will be live updated on https://live.aravaiparunning.com

These mini races are designed to introduce newcomers to the sport of ultra running in general and backyard ultras specifically. If you are up for 24 hours or more, you should enter the open ended Backyard Ultra race.
Why
The Sparks Backyard Ultra will be a great opportunity to reach new distances and achieve a personal record. Your fellow runners will energize and incentivize you to go further and do better than you ever thought possible.
Sparks Backyard Ultra Course
Participants run a 4.167 mile course every hour until only one person is standing. At the Sparks Marina, this segment is a little over 2 laps. If you finish the 4.167 mile distance (called a "yard") within the hour, you can run the next yard. If you do not finish the yard within the hour, you are out of the race. The 4.167 mile length is by design. Each lap of a Backyard Ultra evenly divides a 100 mile distance into 24 one-hour segments. Since each loop around the Sparks Marina is 1.95 miles, the course will have an additional short loop at the beginning of each yard to ensure the 4.167 mile distance is accurate. This will be a short loop around the Veteran's Plaza and Peninsula. We will have signs to guide runners, however after the first yard you will know the course and be able to follow without hesitation.
Sparks Backyard Ultra Aid Stations
We will provide water, ice, and Heed, as well as normal aid station fare (pretzels, chips, gu, etc.). We will have tents, chairs, and cots. You can bring your own aid station if you choose (pop-up, chairs, etc.) and whatever other drinks and food you want for the race. There will be food trucks at the venue during normal meal times and you can pay for what you order.
Sparks Backyard Ultra Rules
Sparks Backyard Ultra Awards
We will give awards and provide cool race swag. Everyone who reaches 100 miles receives a belt buckle and 100-mile finisher flannel shirt.Every entrant who finishes at least five yards will receive a Finishers Award. The overall winner, the Last Person Standing, receives a first place award. The second place receives the Assist Award. In addition, the top three males and top three females receive awards. For the Mini Backyard: Every runner who finishes their chosen time receives an award.

THIS IS NOT A TRAIL RUN!
In the event that you stumbled on this page looking for a really hard fat-ass style trail running event in a beautiful place, this is NOT that kind of event. Is it hard? Yes. The fun run typically takes 11-20 hrs to complete, the other disciplines go up from there. Only one person has finished 21 Peaks ever. Is it fat-ass style? Yes - it's free and marginally supported (drop bag). Is it held in a beautiful place? Yes - it takes place in Desolation Wilderness. What gives? It is all those things, but it is NOT a TRAIL run. Why? First, you will encounter trail bits here and there, but the vast majority of the routes are OFF TRAIL, which, in this area means endless talus fields of broken rock, granite ledges, hands and feet scrambling and swift water creek crossings. Second, the route is NOT MARKED. Participants navigate from peak to peak according to their own route planning and route finding. If you don't have years of experience trekking and running in the mountains, navigating off trail, or have elite level physical capability, this is not the event for you. This is NOT the event where you go to get that experience, or learn what's required. With that out of the way, let's talk about what Desolate Peaks actually is.
Overview
Desolate Peaks is nothing more than a time and place where a couple of dozen mountain runners get together to challenge themselves by doing a peak bagging circuit in the Desolation Wilderness. Leaving together at 6 AM from Twin Lakes trailhead, they navigate from peak to peak until they either complete the circuit within the 30 hour time limit, or they give in to the realization that they didn't quite have what it took...this year. There are three levels of "fun" on offer:21 Peaks - the original 17 peak beast plus 4 additional peaks (Lucifer’s Frolic)17 Peaks - the original beast!11 Peak “Fun Run” - Shuttle back from Fallen Leaf (Skip 12-17)
