In the American calendar, the 4th of July 💐 is an important date as it marks the commemoration of the Declaration of Independence of 1776 from Great Britain 🇬🇧. This national holiday is celebrated with fireworks 🎇, patriotic songs, and barbecues 🍗. But a holiday also means the opportunity to wear a race number! 🎽 Join us in San Mateo to participate in the July 4th Freedom Run 🚏, a no-pressure race that is just a pretext to get together with family or friends 🫶.

Come join us in the beautiful redwood groves of the Santa Cruz Mountains! Tucked away just outside Silicon Valley, Sanborn County Park features miles of single-track trails dappled with filtered light through lush canopy.
Half Marathon and 10K runners will ascend to peaks offering spectacular views and all distances will include breathtaking single track trails.
While experienced runners will enjoy the challenge and exploration of new territory, those new to the trails will also discover a whole new world of running where it is perfectly normal (and highly recommended!) to walk the hills and save your energy for the flat and downhill sections.
Race Start Times
The half marathon will start at 8:30 am, the 10K at 8:45 am and the 5K at 9:00 am. There will also be a "Hiker Division" start (for half marathon participants planning to take more than 3.5 hours) at 7:30 am.
Walkers/hikers and runners of all levels are welcome!
Experience the towering redwoods, lush ferns, and beautiful trails through Huddart Park, King's Mountain and Bear Gulch.
This Fremont park has "hills" in the name, but the climbing is minimal at these runs by the bay. You will find an abundance of scenic views and variety of surfaces from dirt to paved to the wood boardwalks running through the marsh!
Hikers/walkers are always welcome!
parkrun is such a simple concept: turn up every Saturday and volunteer, walk, jog or run 5k.
