More about Mountain Runners and Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance
In 2018, Mountain Runners became one of the founding projects in creating Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance, formed with the aim of gathering together the larger community of outdoor recreation nonprofit organizations and initiatives throughout far Northern California. SORA hopes to serve to amplify the voice of outdoor recreation interests within the region, and support partnerships, policy, and planning related to outdoor recreation and community vitality. Through combining forces with other area groups and consolidating financial and administrative resources, our goal is to reduce the burden on smaller nonprofits, resulting in more sustainable programs, events, and organization.

12th Annual Courage Triathlon
Race to End Trafficking. Run With Purpose. Move With Courage.
Saturday, August 15, 2026 | Lake Almanor Country Club | 10:00 AM Start
For twelve years, the Courage
Triathlon has united athletes, families, and advocates around a cause that demands our attention: the fight against child sex trafficking. What began as a local race has grown into a movement — and this year, we're taking it further than ever.
The 12th Annual Courage Triathlon returns to the stunning shores of Lake Almanor, and this year, we're opening registration to virtual participants nationwide. Whether you're standing at the start line or lacing up your sneakers a thousand miles away, you're part of this fight.
The Course
Run - 2.8 Miles - Scenic road run
Bike - 6.4 Miles - Road cycling course
Row - 3.1 Miles - Kayak or paddleboard
From the adrenaline of a our scenic run and ride through the pines to the rhythm of your paddle cutting across the glassy surface of Lake Almanor, every leg of this course is designed to challenge your body and renew your purpose.
You're not just racing — you're running toward a world where every child is safe.
How to Participate
Solo: Take on all three legs yourself — run, bike, and row the full course at Lake Almanor.
Team Relay: Split the triathlon among two or three teammates. Each member completes one or more legs of the race. Grab your friends, your family, or your coworkers and race together.
Virtual: Can't make it to Lake Almanor? Now you don't have to. Register as a virtual participant and log your own activities, distances, and times — on your schedule, from wherever you are.
We want you to join us in person, however we know that distance should not discourage your heart for supporting Courage. The beauty of virtual participation is that it meets you where you are. Want to run five miles through your neighborhood to show your support? Log it. Planning to paddleboard for two hours around your local marina? We'd love to hear about it. Prefer a walk around the block with your kids and the dog? That counts, too. Every step, every stroke, every mile matters.
Post your photos on Instagram, tag @CourageWorldwide, and let's show the world what a nationwide community of courage looks like. This year, we want to see evidence of support for child survivors from coast to coast.
Why We Race
Every registration, every mile logged, and every dollar raised goes directly toward the mission of Courage Worldwide — an organization dedicated to providing residential housing and comprehensive therapeutic services for child survivors of sex trafficking. These are children who have endured unimaginable trauma, and Courage Worldwide exists to offer them safety, healing, and a future worth fighting for.
When you cross the finish line — whether that's at Lake Almanor or at the end of your driveway — you're telling a survivor that they are seen, they are valued, and they are not alone.
