12th Annual Courage Triathlon
Race to End Trafficking. Run With Purpose. Move With Courage.
Saturday, August 15, 2026 | Lake Almanor Country Club | 10:00 AM Start
For twelve years, the Courage Triathlon has united athletes, families, and advocates around a cause that demands our attention: the fight against child sex trafficking. What began as a local race has grown into a movement — and this year, we're taking it further than ever.
The 12th Annual Courage Triathlon returns to the stunning shores of Lake Almanor, and this year, we're opening registration to virtual participants nationwide. Whether you're standing at the start line or lacing up your sneakers a thousand miles away, you're part of this fight.
The Course
Run - 2.8 Miles - Scenic road run
Bike - 6.4 Miles - Road cycling course
Row - 3.1 Miles - Kayak or paddleboard
From the adrenaline of a our scenic run and ride through the pines to the rhythm of your paddle cutting across the glassy surface of Lake Almanor, every leg of this course is designed to challenge your body and renew your purpose.
You're not just racing — you're running toward a world where every child is safe.
How to Participate
Solo: Take on all three legs yourself — run, bike, and row the full course at Lake Almanor.
Team Relay: Split the triathlon among two or three teammates. Each member completes one or more legs of the race. Grab your friends, your family, or your coworkers and race together.
Virtual: Can't make it to Lake Almanor? Now you don't have to. Register as a virtual participant and log your own activities, distances, and times — on your schedule, from wherever you are.
We want you to join us in person, however we know that distance should not discourage your heart for supporting Courage. The beauty of virtual participation is that it meets you where you are. Want to run five miles through your neighborhood to show your support? Log it. Planning to paddleboard for two hours around your local marina? We'd love to hear about it. Prefer a walk around the block with your kids and the dog? That counts, too. Every step, every stroke, every mile matters.
Post your photos on Instagram, tag @CourageWorldwide, and let's show the world what a nationwide community of courage looks like. This year, we want to see evidence of support for child survivors from coast to coast.
Why We Race
Every registration, every mile logged, and every dollar raised goes directly toward the mission of Courage Worldwide — an organization dedicated to providing residential housing and comprehensive therapeutic services for child survivors of sex trafficking. These are children who have endured unimaginable trauma, and Courage Worldwide exists to offer them safety, healing, and a future worth fighting for.
When you cross the finish line — whether that's at Lake Almanor or at the end of your driveway — you're telling a survivor that they are seen, they are valued, and they are not alone.

Two mile run/walk at night across Shasta Dam.
Fun for the whole family.
Glow sticks, music and awards to top overall and custom medals to top 3 in 5 year age groups.
Runners in this years half marathon will run along the Sacramento River and will be crossing three bridges: the Sundial Bridge, the Ribbon Bridge and the Diestelhorst Bridge. The runners will start out crossing the Turtle Bay Sundial Bridge, and go north on paved paths in park surroundings most of the way, until they reach the Ribbon Bridge where they cross the Sacramento River and go south until they reach Middle Creek trail, which is an out and back (2 miles), with a return to the River Trail. Once back on the River Trail the runners cross back on the Diestelhorst Bridge to the north side of the river. The runners then continue back to the Sundial Bridge where they cross back to the south side and the Start / Finish.
In addition to the half marathon there is a 10 K, which also goes along the Sacramento River, just less distance; and a 2 mile run / walk for younger and older, who do not want the longer distances. Having the multiple distance options makes it a very family friendly event.
The half marathon and the 10 K have been certified with the American Track and Field Association. For those of you who need a certified distance, this is another good reason to run this particular race.
A couple of years back we added electronic timing, through individual tracking on each runner's race bib. Since everybody liked it, this will continue for all runners at any distance.
This year's race will maintain acknowledgement of age division winners in 5 year increments starting at “under 15 years of age” . For the two mile run there will be three additional divisions starting at 5 years and under.
If you are a sponsor of the race you will get one free entry into the division of your choice. If you would like to become a sponsor please complete a sponsor form which can be found on our website at https://reddingbreakfastlionsclub.com/events-2/turtle-bay-run/
Swag bag and packet pick up will be at Fleet Feet, 1376 Hilltop Drive , Redding California, 96003 on Saturday October 3rd from 12 until 2 pm, or at the start / finish area on October 4th from 7:00 am until 8:30 am.
We will have the ability to enter school teams this year, where students can be entered by their school / coach at the cost of $10.00 for any distance. This is only for high school or younger and no shirt is included. Please contact us on our website for a sign up form at: https://reddingbreakfastlionsclub.com/events-2/turtle-bay-run/
Forms and money must be in our hands by September 25th 2026 for student entries.
PLEASE NOTE : IF YOU SIGN UP AFTER September 11th 2026, YOU MAY NOT GET A SHIRT

By supporting this race, you are supporting two great causes!
Chico Velo Trailworks. Launched in 2014, Chico Velo’s Trailworks supports and manages the creation and maintenance of sustainable and enjoyable trails in our region. They have established a strong partnership with the City of Chico to maintain the trails in Upper Bidwell Park. Trailworks have done additional work in the Oroville area and beyond. They are actively seeking new partnerships and opportunities within our community to promote sustainable trail design. Trailworks volunteers put in hundreds of hours every year improving trails for all users to enjoy. To see their latest project check out our Colby Mountain Recreation Project. A portion of your race entry will go to this great local stewardship as they continue their work to help keep our local trails accessible for us all! If you would like more information on this program or would like to sign up for a park cleanup day, click the link below.
Chico Velo Trailworks - CHICO VELO
In addition to supporting Chico Velo Trailworks we are also donating a portion of the race proceeds to local fire academy cadets. Many of the current class are volunteer firefighters who have worked and volunteered in our community and are continuing their education to be able to make a lifelong career the Fire industry. With a fire prone environment that we live in throughout Butte County we rely on our local fire personnel, staff and volunteers to keep our community safe! Cadets will be volunteering on the racecourse to help ensure the safety of all our participants. Cadets can be seen on our racecourse supporting our race as emergency EMTs and safety aids at the creek crossings. SPECTATING
We would love to see everyone come out to support our local athletes in this new trail race! Because the trail is a single track there are limited locations that you can safely watch your favorite runners without interrupting the flow of the race. Here we have provided a few locations where you can safely watch your runners and help cheer them on to the finish.
Start/Finish area- in the meadow of the finish/ South Rim area. At this location you will not only see the runners start on the run, but this is also the location of the finish. For the 4-Mile runners this will also serve as the location where they will hold until the start of the next loop.
Green Gate Parking Lot – This location will serve at Aid Station one for the half marathoners and will also be a great spot to cheer on your runners as they will have just climbed the final hill of their run…. All downhill from here! Parking will be very limited. If you plan to cheer for your runners at this location, carpooling is highly recommended!
Bear Hole parking lot- This location is about one and a half miles past the Horseshoe Lake gate on Upper Park Rd. You will need to walk or bike to this location as the road will be closed to cars for the day. The Parking lot serves as aid station 3 for the half marathon as well as aid station 1 for the 4-mile runners. Runners will be coming in and out of this location from both directions, so this will be a fun and high energy place to spectate.
