Cherié Karlsson was very close to a burn out chasing career milestones when she realized what she needed wasn't another goal, it was a ritual that would actually last. That realization became SLÖ Social Running Club in Luleå, Sweden. The name means "lazy" or "slow" in Swedish, and it's the entire mission: an alternative to speed culture where consistency matters more than pace. Every Sunday at 11:45 AM, roughly 50 runners gather at Luleå Centralstation for intentional, recovery-focused runs followed by fika and coffee. Founded by Cherié, her partner David and their friend Camilla shaped it into what it is today. SLÖ welcomes all levels, from elite athletes seeking permission to slow down to newcomers finding community. There's no pressure to perform, no requirement to call yourself a runner, and free membership removes financial barriers. What began as a personal experiment transformed into proof that showing up exactly as you are, week after week, builds belonging.
