In February 2023, a group of Wellington runners opened Zone Blue Run Club not as a fitness business but as a vessel for something simpler: shared movement and mental health. Born at Aye! Empanadas & More, a cafe known for its lively pulse, the crew started with a conviction that running works best when it's not solitary. Today, Zone Blue has grown to around 200 members across all abilities and ages, from easy-paced park loops to ultramarathon-distance sessions. Founders built the culture around inclusivity from day one, no joining fees, no gatekeeping. Every run serves the same purpose: to connect runners to the city, to each other, and to themselves. The crew moves through Wellington's waterfront, botanic gardens, and neighborhood streets, turning familiar routes into gathering spaces where friendships form alongside fitness gains.
