WOLF RUN SERIES
This year we feature the RUNNING WOLF route, so if you missed it the first time around, now's your chance to complete this course as part of your Wolf Trifecta Series. The route this year will start in the Little Belt Mountains, this is a mostly downhill course for 9 miles where it then veers right to add a couple challenging climbs before the finish.
To complete the Wolf Trifecta Series you must eventually finish all three courses (Running Wolf, Dry Wolf and Big Bad Wolf), either running or biking. These do not have to be completed in consecutive years. Once all three races are in the books, not only will you have bragging rights, but you'll be rewarded with a Wolf Trifecta Series T-shirt and hand-made medal!
We also offer a 5K race and a 1-mile fun run/walk.
In 2027, we will offer the Dry Wolf race and then in 2028 we will again offer the Big Bad Wolf race.
Mark your calendar now and make your plans to take part in this unique experience!
Proceeds from both races will benefit Basin Wellness Center, a facility in-the-making with the goal of "bringing health and wellness to Judith Basin County." Check out our Facebook page for more information about our project!
Start time for the half marathon races is 6:30 a.m. 5K will start at 8:30 AM. 1-mile fun run will start at 9:30 AM. Further instructions of where to meet up will be provided the week before the race.
T-SHIRT/SWAG BAGS
This race comes with a T-Shirt and Swag Bag. To guarantee these items, your registration will need to be received by June 18, 2026.
5K RACE
This is a fun and challenging course of rolling hills on maintained gravel county road!
ONE MILE FAMILY FUN RUN
This will be a flat, family friendly 1 mile course. Race will begin and end along the same route as the Wolf races.
Race participants that pre-register will receive a race shirt. Those registering late or the day of the race may or may not receive a race shirt. Please watch for traffic and obey all traffic laws. Walkers are welcome but please leave your furry friends at home.
AWARDS/PRIZES
Thanks to our generous sponsors, we will have awards for 1st and 2nd place finishers in each race as well as lots of door prizes! Drawing for door prizes will take place at the conclusion of the 1-mile fun run.
A FEW HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS...
We will have a volunteer EMT on-site in case of emergencies. Water stations will be provided throughout the half marathon route and at the finish line for both races. Porta Potties will be at the start and finish of all races.
CMR STAMPEDE WEEKEND
These races are also timed to coincide with a weekend full of events that commemorate Charlie Russell's life and work, including the CMR Stampede Rodeo, Western BBQ, Stampede Music Fest, Kids' Calf Scramble, and the Quick Finish Art & Auction, in which artists compete to finish their painting, sculpture or other artwork and then enter it in a live auction.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
HAVE FUN!! Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and be sure to join us afterward for great food and prizes!
A 10K trail race in the beautiful Judith Mountains— located in the heart of Montana just 10 miles from Lewistown. This 6.2-mile looped course is intermediate level difficulty, with 1,280ft elevation gain, and follows pristine single-track for most of the route.
Or if hiking is more your style, choose the fun 6K out-and-back hike option! Also considered an intermediate level hike with elevation gain of 950’.
We are excited to announce the 4th Annual Swift Bear Trail Run along with the new added event of 50K! It will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 during Hays Powwow in the beautiful Mission Canyon. Along with the 50K, there will still be the 10 Mile and 20 Mile runs. So, come on out and get your run on!
The 20 Mile run is a loop in the mountains that consists of 2 track roads, gravel, and approximately 3 miles of pavement.
***IMPORTANT 20 MILE INFO - If you expect your overall completion time to be more than 6 hours, we ask you to move your start time to 5:30 am with the 50K runners.
***IMPORTANT 50K INFO - There will be a cutoff time for this race. If a runner has not made it to the last aid station (approximately 10 miles from finish line) by the 8.5 hour mark (1:30 PM) this will result in a disqualification.
Like last year, there will be prizes given to the top male and female finishers in both the 10 and 20 Mile runs. Prizes for the 50K are TBD at this time.
All runs start and end on the east end of the powwow grounds; look for the white canopy and check-in table. Runners will meet 30 minutes before start of each run at the starting line.
