Duathlon Run Swim Triathlon Walk

This beautiful race along the New Hampshire coast is not to be missed for amazing scenery and a great experience. Athletes rave about the stunning oceanfront views and scenic country roads on the bike and run course. Beginner triathletes will enjoy the flat roads while experienced triathletes will set new PRs! The ocean swim takes place in the Atlantic Ocean off of a beautiful sandy beach.

The Wallis Sands Triathlon is held at Wallis Sands State Park in Rye, New Hampshire. After a 1/3 mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean or for the duathletes, a 1 mile (total) out and back run with water views, the bike course completes a 14.5 mile scenic loop in the town of Rye and takes in the beautiful views along route 1A. The 5k run course is an out and back with the turnaround at Odiorne Point State Park. The Wallis Sands Sprint Triathlon is a perfect event to wind down the triathlon season has it has it all – beautiful course, easy parking, exceptional race management, and a fun community spirit!

The Wallis Sands Triathlon will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon. If you are not an annual member of USA Triathlon, you will need to purchase a $15 one-day membership when you register.

T-shirt Policy

While we try very hard to accommodate everyone’s shirt size, regardless of when they register, in order to offer a fair system for distributing race shirts, the following policy is in effect: Athletes that register within three weeks of the race are not guaranteed their t-shirt size. They may choose from all remaining sizes after the race. If you register in the week of the race, we may not be able to guarantee a T-shirt. If you want to be guaranteed a t-shirt size, please register early!

Sprint Swim:

The 1/3 mile ocean swim will follow a triangle route starting and ending on the beach in front of Wallis Sands State Beach concession stand. For your safety and comfort, wetsuits are highly recommended. Sleeveless wetsuits are permitted. The transition area will be a short run up the beach to the parking lot of the State Beach.

Duathlon Run 1:

The 1.1 mile out and back run course offers sensational ocean views. The one loop course starts north along the coast on Route 1A then turns around returning south along the coast to the transition area.

Sprint Bike:

The 14.5 mile bike is flat and fast course, traveling north along the seacoast, turning inland for a bit through the Town of Rye then turning back north for a tailwind-aided (keep your fingers crossed!) finish along the coast on Route 1A.

Each year, the 10K Road Race gets the Market Square Day celebration off on the right foot. With a starting line in the heart of Downtown Portsmouth, the Race typically draws nearly 1,000 runners who wind their way through the streets of Portsmouth ending with the finish line at historic Strawbery Banke.

In 2005, we joined forces with other area races to create the Seacoast Road Race Series. From May through November, runners participate in races ranging in distance from 5K – 10K in communities throughout the Seacoast. The Series creates healthy (literally) competition and serves to introduce runners to a variety of races. The Series expanded to seven races and continues its popular ‘run’ with new and seasoned athletes.
