A 5k run like no other! Tacos & Beer 5k run Kicks off a fun and festive Cinco de Mayo weekend. Walk, jog or run and then get rewarded with TWO Tacos and a Beer (for 21+) at the Baja Fiesta-Party with a Beer Garden, live mariachi music, live bands, DJs, games, including a mechanical Bull, a piñata breaking party, and a Cinco De Mayo costume contest. So Bring the Mexican sombrero, serape, folklore skirts, the maracas, la guitara, el barracho, la muchacha, the whole family!

The Run Course: Whittier Narrows Parks & Rec., South El Monte, CA. Run/walk through Legg Lake Park's trails featuring a flat and fast scenic course. It is a 1492 acre park with open green space, trees, lakes, walking trails, and playgrounds for kids. Tacos and Beer 5k will provide live course entertainment and post race Festival--Baja style.
Awards will be given to the top three overall Male and Female Finishers. FUN COMPETITION: Awards in the Categories of Traditional Team CostumeMost Creative Team Name*Largest Team.

Event details and schedule
Run starts at 8:00 am
The pre-and-post race fiesta starts at 7am to 10 am with the first waves starting at 8am; chip timing runners in the first wave; all non-chip timing runners in the second wave. Walker and strollers will line up at the end of the last wave.
This 5K offers the natural beauty of the Whittier Narrows park trails. Enjoy the shade of trees as you traverse the two lakes. Invigorate your body. Soothe your soul.
Please note: Dogs are not permitted on the course. Strollers are permitted but will line up with the last wave behind the walkers.

Parking is available next to the venue between restroom #10 and #11. See the Parks website.
Same day registration and Packet Pick Up is open at 6am. Arrive early to pick up your bib and t-shirt.
What to wear? May is a warm month, but in L.A. it could be cool in the morning and warming up to the 80s by 10 am. For this 5k at Whittier Narrow Park, trail shoes are suggested.
