1 Miles 5k Run Walk

Michigan Men's Health Foundation's annual Run for the Ribbon 5K takes place Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 8 a.m. at the Detroit Zoo to support prostate cancer survivors and those who love them. Participants can participate in the 5K run/walk loop or a 1 Mile Stroll inside the zoo. All participants will receive a race shirt, medal, and complimentary entry to the Detroit Zoo. What a great way to spend Father's Day!

Our Doze for Dads option is a way to support the men in your life without the cardio! Please only select this option if you are NOT planning to attend the event in person. If you register for Doze for Dads you will not be permitted to participate on race day without registering for the in-person events.

Registrants are encouraged bring a team and build a personal fundraising page asking friends and family members to donate when they sign up for the event. Registrants can upload photos, a personal story and set up team or personal fundraising goals. Each secure team page or personal page will have its own custom URL.

Prostate cancer survivors, please be sure to stop by the Michigan Men's Health Foundation tent for your survivor gift!

Please note that according to Zoo regulations, dogs are not allowed at this race

Join us for a meaningful Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk as we celebrate freedom, unity, and resilience. This empowering event aims to honor the significance of Juneteenth by bringing our community together through a spirited run. Lace up your shoes and stride with purpose as we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved individuals and embrace the spirit of equality and justice.

The 5k Run/Walk will be a great addition to the 8th annual Juneteenth Parade.

You don't run? It's cool. You can walk. Bring your strollers, bring your friends and family.

In addition to walking/running here are a few other ways you can get involved:

    • Sponsor the event (sponsorship packages will be available)

    • Volunteer (passing out waters and snacks)

    • Crowd Support (holding signs, encouraging runners)

    • Spread the word

    Highlights:

    • Family-Friendly: Bring the whole family for a day of fitness, fun, and community spirit. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome!

    • Community Support: Every step you take supports a worthy cause, with proceeds from the event benefiting Juneteenth In Detroit 501(c)(3).

    • Music & Entertainment: Keep your energy high with live music, DJ sets, and interactive activities for participants of all ages.

    • Post-Race Celebration: Celebrate your achievement with refreshments, snacks, and the camaraderie of fellow participants at our post-race gathering.

Whether you’re running for a personal best, to honor a loved one, or simply to make a difference in your community, the Juneteenth Detroit 5k is your chance to be a part of something truly special. So, gather your friends, rally your family, and join us as we race towards hope, one step at a time!
