11 Miles 22 Miles 32 Miles 4 Miles 50k Run

The Fallen Warrior Foundation is deeply honored to host the 8th annual Sgt David Hierholzer Memorial Day 50k.

On Memorial Day, we will embark together as a unit to run the 32-ish miles across Marshall County—from the north county line to the south county line. The group typically averages around 10-10:30 minutes per mile pace stopping every 3-5 miles to regroup. Please understand this run is not a race. It is a journey. It is a journey to honor and remember those who have sacrificed everything to purchase and protect our freedom. Seven years ago, a single man set out to honor his best friend who was killed in action. The journey to remember on foot began to resonate with many across the county. Just as one man’s sacrifice saved many, one person’s desire to never forget that sacrifice created a rippling effect. Participants have multiplied exponentially each year since the first trek across the county. There are four ways to run on Memorial Day with us: 1) run the full distance 32 miles, 2) run the first half and end at the Lewisburg square 22 miles, 3) run the back half from the Lewisburg square to

the end 11 miles, 4) run or ruck the final 4 miles beginning at Cornersville High School. It may get hot as the day/run progresses. Be sure you have heat trained properly and carry water/electrolytes. If you choose to be an active participant, you will need to sign up on runsignup.com to sign a waiver and pay a small fee for fundraising purposes.

All funds generated by this run are used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for children in the community.

The group will rally at 4:45 at the North County line on 31-A, North of Holt's Corner Memorial Day morning and head south from there. There is no parking here so plan to be dropped off near the start or car pool. The community often provides volunteer aid stations every 3 to 5 miles, but participants are urged to be self supportive and are responsible for their own transportation to and from start and stopping points. It is strongly recommended to carry your cell phone in case of emergencies.

All exchange times are estimates based on previous years times.

Above all we encourage each person to embody the NEVER GO EASY way of life.

    The Mad Mallard 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour trail race......AT NIGHT

That's right we're going all night, all day, and into the night again this year!!!

Do you have a long race coming and need some night training? Do you need to test out some night gear? Or just want to test yourself!?

    This is your race!

Runners will start at 7 p.m.- that's right, 7 p.m., right before sunset- and run a 3-ish mile trail loop along the Duck River and through the cane thickets, cedars groves, and hardwood forest of Henry Horton State Park for 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours. The loop is 3 miles, has roughly 144ft of climb, and is completely runnable, with the majority being single-track dirt trails.

Although the course will be marked with glow sticks and reflective markers, you should still bring a headlamp or a light source.

We will have one main aid station at the start/finish line stocked with snacks, cold water, sodas, watermelon and Tailwind hydration...open throughout the night.

We'll fire up the grill when coyotes start howlin and hollerin!

This will be a laid-back, grassroots event. Family, friends, and spectators are always welcome. Pop a tent and stay for a while!

Please no dogs on trail, but definitely welcome in camp as long as they are leashed and well behaved!

I've heard rumors that the Scal-a-wag Trail Running Club will be hanging around to pace, motivate, and help out through the evening! I'm sure you will see some familiar faces!

Each runner will receive a finisher medal and swag bag!

Awards will be given to the Female and Male runners who accumulate the most laps in the 3, 6, 12, and 24-hour races as well.

There will be a Mad Mallard Belt Buckle for anyone that can run 100miles inside the 24 hour time allowance.

There will also be $100 for anyone who can top Jack Lee's 104 miles in 24 hours!

We also plan to bring back the hidden ducks on course and add on a few extra!

This race is hosted by our non profit, The Sgt David Hierholzer Fallen Warrior Foundation. All proceeds and donations generated go to the purchase of backpacks, school supplies, and clothes for school children in the community.

Thank you for your interest in our race and for helping us keep a dream alive.

    Never surrender, never go easy!

Lace up those running shoes and dust off your boogie shoes for the 2nd annual Live Like Jack 5K and 1Mile Kids run followed by a post race dance party and arm wrestling competition.

    Why are we doing this?

Our son, Jack was born with a birth defect called bilateral clubfoot which, if left untreated, can impair a child's ability to run, jump and play. Jack also has arthrogryposis and limb differences, which effect his upper extremities and joints.

Through our journey we realized that treatment for these conditions can be costly so we are raising funds to assist families with the cost of care associated with treatments, travel, therapies and adaptive equipment.

All funds raised through the Live Like Jack 5k will benefit awareness, research, treatment and management of clubfoot and other musculoskeletal conditions and limb differences. We also donate and support adaptive athletes and those with limb differences and musculoskeletal conditions in activities of sport and fitness.

Last year our proceeds went to Miracle Flights and Children's flight of hope to fly clubfoot and limb different children to treatment and surgeries. We also donated to Able Youth a non profit helping child wheelchair users navigate sports and daily living as well as Hope Walks a charity that treats clubfoot kids in low-income countries. This year we will be donating to Achilles International and other charities that align with our values.

We aim to support EVERYONE--including those with disabilities, impairments and differences-- in their journey to run, jump, play and ultimately LIVE like Jack.

We were told when Jack was a baby that he would "never be normal" and we say.... maybe "normal" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

IN A WORLD OF NORMAL, EMBRACE YOUR DIFFERENCES!

SWAG: All participants receive a top quality tee and fun finisher medal!

Walkers, children and pets welcome and encouraged!! Or make a donation and come hang out with us :)
