Wensley's Cycles Surf to City 2026

The Wensley’s Cycles Surf to CIty is Southland’s favourite participation event.​​​​​​​

Join us for the scenic start at Oreti Beach, or either of the two shorter options, and get swept up in the festival atmosphere on the way to our vibrant finish line experience in Queens Park.

Accessible, affordable and inclusive - whether you choose to walk, run, take the bike, scoot your scooter or push a pram, the Wensley’s Cycles Surf to City is an event for the whole family.

The Wensley’s Cycles Surf to City is a great way to get active as a family, workplace, club, group or with your friends.

The Wensley’s Cycles Surf to City event caters to participants of all ages. With options for running, biking or walking across three different distances. Take your pick from the Wensley’s Cycles 12 km category, the ILT Foundation 6 km category (starting in Otatara) or the Active Southland 3 km category (starting in Bond St).

The iAM 1.5 km inclusive event is free to enter and is open to all ages and abilities. Run, walk or wheel around a course through Queens Park. A shorter course option will be sign posted on the day as well.

Surf to City is proud to be part of this year's Southland Community Challenge. The Challenge is raising money for Southlanders through Hospice Southland, Kiwi Harvest Southland and The Grace Street Project. You can donate through the registrations page, or through the Southland Community Challenge website.

Event details and schedule

Number Collection

Race numbers must be collected from the Active Southland office at ILT Stadium Southland, Invercargill by 3pm on Saturday 7th March. Numbers can be collected from Monday 16th February from 8:30am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 3pm Saturday 7th March.

Start times

12km: Be at Oreti Beach by 9:15am

6km: Be at the corner of Marama Ave South & Stead St by 10am.

3km: Be at Marshall Industries, Bond St by 10:15am.

2km: Be at the Herbet St entrance to Queens Park by 10:45am.

Transport and Parking

Roads are closed to traffice for this event. Refer to the information sheet for your event for information on parking.

Shuttle buses run from The Pantry and Feldwick Gates, Queens Park. The bus timetable will be on the Surf to City website closer to the time.
