Traversing beautiful viewpoints along the Hudson River from New Jersey to New York and back again the Interstate 17 Trail Run delivers amazing scenery as it tests your physical prowess.

You will run four times on a four mile loop of rugged technical trails after a mile out and back on a closed road to separate the field of runners for safety. You will complete three counterclockwise loops followed by a final loop clockwise. You must check in at the beginning/end of each loop to have your time card punched.

Founded in 2017. This is NOT your average trail race. This trail is meant to test your strength and endurance. Seventeen miles with over 5000 ft. of elevation change, if you're not extremely careful there are many places where you can fall to your death or serious injury. No awards or medals. Race at your own risk.

    Course Description

Mile 0-1: from the start/finish out and back on road

Mile 1-2: heading south along a semi technical rock strewn dirt trail which leads to a steep long descent on rocky uneven jagged stairs and switchbacks. Once you reach the bottom you'll head north on smooth dirt trail along the river with beautiful views

Mile 2-3: a boulder filled rock scramble where you'll need to use your hands to navigate at certain points ends with a singletrack dirt trail with short yet steep ascents and descents along the river

Mile 3-4: singletrack dirt path takes you directly back into another rock scramble, however this portion is much more runnable, ending directly on the shore of the river

Mile 4-5: as you continue along the rocky shore trail you'll encounter the beautiful waterfall signaling your time to ascend the cliff using various switchbacks and staircases. Once you reach the top it's a short trip south through wide cross country skiing trails back to the checkpoint/aid station at the start/finish area

Miles 5-9 & 9-13 repeat miles 1-5. Last loop miles 13-17 you'll reverse your path.

    Aid Station

Mile 1, 5, 9, & 13 Fully stocked with water, sports drink, soda, candies, oranges, chips, pretzels and more! Feel free to leave your own personal supply stash, it will be safe and easy to access each loop.

*Due to distance between aid we highly recommend carrying your own hydration supply (handhelds may be cumbersome at times you may require both hands free)

Email with complete information will be sent a week prior to event date to all registered runners, plz check your junk folder or send us a message if you can’t locate it.

    COURSE ADVISORIES

    8K TRAIL RUN

The 8K Trail Run is new this year, and we are excited for you to pilot this beautiful course! Keep in mind that this is a mixed-terrain course and there are sections that are moderately technical. Runners will encounter steep and uneven stone steps, rocky switchbacks, stretches of pavement, grass, gravel, and pathways alongside steep cliff drop-offs. Certain sections will require slowing down to a walk or hike and, at times, moving in single file for safety. These areas will be clearly marked with signage, and volunteers will be present to direct runners along the way.

    HALF MARATHON

In summer of 2024, a severe storm caused road damage along the Palisades Half Marathon route. Road conditions have improved since last year, but there are still some remaining sections of uneven pavement with exposed bricks, bumps, and depressions. The road conditions last for half a mile between mile markers 2 and 3, and between mile markers 11 and 12. Take note of caution signs and volunteer warnings as you approach and traverse the rough road section.

We appreciate your understanding of imperfect route conditions! The Palisades Half + 8K is a nonprofit event that supports the Palisades Parks System of 29 Hudson Valley parks, many of which are increasingly vulnerable to severe weather events. Thank you for supporting the parks!

    VOLUNTEERS

We are still actively recruiting volunteers for race day. Our volunteer crews help the race run smoothly by supporting check-in, running water stations, and providing guidance along the course. If friends or family wish to volunteer on race day, please ask them to fill out this form with their information and availability.

    Cancelation, Refund & Transfer Policy

All registration fees for this race are put directly toward the Palisades Parks Conservancy nonprofit's work of protecting, preserving, and enhancing the Palisades Parks. At this time, we cannot offer refunds or deferrals. We understand that injuries, emergencies, and obligations can come up. If you cannot attend the race, you may reach out to [email protected] to transfer your registration to another person who can run in your place.

The event will go on rain or shine, in the event of extreme inclement weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, the race will be canceled and all registration fees will be converted to donations to support the Palisades Parks preservation work. We appreciate your understanding and your contributions to our small organization!

We Run Uptown emerged in July 2013 from heartbreak and a determination to build running culture in an Uptown Manhattan neighborhood with few organized options. Founded by runners who saw the streets as community canvas, the crew has grown into a tight twenty-strong collective that treats every mile as a way of being present. Their philosophy is straightforward: street runners first. They welcome all paces and all backgrounds, asking only for raw, unfiltered energy. Monday nights at 7:15 from Bodega Pizza, they hit the neighborhood streets rain or shine, creating social space where the run matters as much as the beer and conversations that follow.

Boogie Down Bronx Runners was born from a simple observation. In May 2017, Lenny and Jean Paul noticed a gap in their borough no one else was filling, so they decided to change it themselves. The Bronx is the unhealthiest county in New York State, but these two runners believed something different was possible. What started as a solo runner at their first meetup has grown into nearly 40 strong on weekly runs, a non-judgmental community of everyday Bronx residents proving that running can transform lives, one BX mile at a time. They gather Sunday mornings at Edgar Allan Poe Park and Tuesday evenings at Pelham Cornerstone Community Center, offering two chances every week to be part of something real.

Streets 101 was founded in April 2018 when Greg set out to build something real on New York City's streets. The simple idea: bring runners together and push every single one of them further. Today, around 130 runners make up the crew, each chasing their own individualized goals. The foundation here is effort, commitment, and drive. Streets 101 thrives on shared ambition, celebrating every personal breakthrough as a collective win. The atmosphere is hard-working, warm, and genuinely invested in every member's progress. The crew gathers three times a week, Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings, and Saturday mornings at Custom Performance, where every run is a chance to break your routine and surprise yourself.
